Re: Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
I prefer to think of a BLDC motor as any other DC motor. The difference between a brushed and a brushless motor is simply that in a brushed motor the commutation is done mechanically by the

Re: Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
A brushless DC motor uses a VDF and 3 phase motor.
The best part of *brushless type s* is they very low maintenance and last long time.
The best part *brush type* is as motor slow down you get

Re: Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
Here are 2 chart on brushless motors. If notice they different rpm curves. They a low cost motors because of wide spread.
This chart is on a typical permanent magnet motors.
If noticed the wide range

Re: Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
It’s still not wrong. Looks like they’re only showing the universal motor on AC but eh, that’s what it looks like.
It’s not comparing any particular motor, it’s saying if you want high

Re: Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
When look at chart
The universal motor at 20,000 rpm. Torque is about best you use drill and pipe threading machine. There chart show a poor curve.
Why show a Brush motor run at 2,500 rpm when there

Re: Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
Thank posting the link
By there chart looks like there selling brushless motors.
Why would a chart of different rpm's and horses power.
The only motor I know they got right was AC type motor.

Re: Mini lathe DC motor longevity
I agree
I plan to start thread on control board/box later.? It more fof information but is very important to almost everything around us. It is thread that can not be contained just to mini lathe.

Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart.
*Brushless mini lathe motor torque chart* compare to DC motors.
I know the DC motors have very high torque as the motor slow down.? The standard ac squire cage motor is about same the rpm's drop

Re: Mini lathe DC motor longevity
Don't know what the leadscrew has to do with motor longevity, but if concerned with debris getting into the control box (a possibility) and shorting electronic components:

Re: Mini lathe DC motor longevity
There are a number of things that can be done to seal the lead screw opening in the control box. That was a big topic years ago! The easiest one is to slide a garden hose washer on to the lead screw,

*Thank you all for your input*
What found is the carbon dust from burshes is staying inside.
This like carbon resistor. The across electrical heater up the motor.
To fix the it could be as simple

They do a lot of short cuts to cheap the price

The draw back is cost more than lathe Then the control

Re: Mini lathe DC motor longevity
When using my lathe I switched the belt to low speed this make the motor run faster . My temperature gauge tells that never gets very hot.
WhatI I am thinking if use lathe motor at higher speed cuts
