Abbreviation more before 1990's/Autocad when hand writing everything on drawing.
I did less abbreviation after was using Autocad.

When writing anything and using an acronym or abbreviation, I try to write out the full set of words and then afterwards put the acronym in parentheses.? That way future uses of it have already been

*VTVM* is short for *Vacuum Tube Volt Meter*. The last ones manufactured was in the 1970's.
