Re: Ball bearing life why so short?
Maybe the axial loading when machining on a lathe? Of course, all the drill presses I've been inside of have ball bearings and most of their load is axial in spite of that. But maybe the axial forces

Ball bearing life why so short?
I have used the 6206 bearing in motors and doors. The life for a seal 6206 ball bearing is 20,000 to 60,000 hours. In a mini lathe a lot shorter. Why is it so short? Dave

Here few more photos. The 12" is the one I use most. The one bag is my new one that just got with a remote display. It has almost a 8".? The 5" was a little short. Each lathe and mill is a different

Re: Portable DRO'S
I just change lathe to mini lathe.. It is simple the DRO aluminum base has bracket to lathe bed. The other end use a mag base used for dial indicators. My new lathe lacks space for mag base. So just I

Re: Portable DRO'S
Very nice idea. Can you show some picture of how it works, and how you mount it ? I'm really interessed and was thinking to copy your idea ( if you don't mind ) Pierluigi

Re: Variable speed motors
For some strange reason laser cutters use 3-phase steppers rather than the usual b-polar ones. Makes the drivers a bit expensive & rare by comparison. Tony Sent: Friday, 9 February 2024 2:06 PM To:

Extra pins are probably for positioning feedback. The incline motors out of treadmills are the same. Tony Sent: Saturday, 10 February 2024 11:31 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re:

These right-angle motors with lead screws are used to adjust the seats in cars. That there are so many of these being sold on the surplus market means to me that they must have been replaced by

Re: Variable speed motors
The high speed 3 phase motors I first in early 2000's could sooner for model . They could build a very light weight motors turning at upto 20,000 rpm's. Now we see as a brushless motors turn at 4,000

Re: Variable speed motors
It interesting thd different ways I have seen for low speeds First on AC motors lots of poles you charge the poles for different speeds but very costly motors. Then was just was belts and or gears.

Re: Variable speed motors
Yes - it's probably geared down quite a bit for that application, so power is not as important there. ralphie

Re: Variable speed motors
Mike - That controller won't put out that much power, it's only a 20A surge. If it would put out 18A continuously with a 12 VDC motor, that's only 216 watts, not even 1/3 hp. Even at 24 VDC, it's less
