Try spraying some contact cleaner into the speed control pot, then turning the pot from full-off to full-on & back several times to distribute the cleaning fluid. Natch, do this with the lathe

I have noticed that speed (5,000 RPM) on higher wattage/HP? motors. There one found that had 6,000 PRM. Dave

I measured the motor speed as about 5000 RPM. I have it geared down to give a spindle speed of 2200 RPM. Tom

I work out the RPM on motor by calculating the belt ratio. The motor at high speed was run at 4,300 RPM. I am thinking of a single belt too. Dave
