I've taken a look at Rangerod and Sparky's gas spring conversions -
nice work guys! Looks like the trickiest part is making the socket
for the 1/4" pins to slide and lock into.
Any chance those pins are removable, i.e. could either be pressed,
pulled, or drilled out? I'm thinking if you could remove those pins,
tap the holes, and bolt the socket back into it it might be easier
for those of us without access to a lathe!
Of course, I'm assuming it will be easy enough to find some 1/4" wall
tube with a 1.5" I.D. to use as the socket.
