I have posted pictures of my adaptation of the
hydraulic cylinder. The mod is not complete yet. Still have to make the
bushing for the eye end of the rod, and final assemble with locknut ans
washers. Also I'm going to redo the valve end mount, getting a little flex
and wiggle in the nut/stud pivot. I through this on the saw in a hurry
yesterday, to see how well it would work. All I can say is this makes
the saw a pleasure to use.
I had thought a one way check valve
would be needed to easily raise the head, but don't see a need for it now.
Just opening the valve 1/2- 1 turn allows the head to be easily
raised.
With the head fully raised the cyl. is below the table, I do
plan on adding a piece of angle to cover the cyl., so any material falling
out of the saw dosen't dent the cyl. body.
General info the cyl.
ends are sealed, so disassembly of the cyl. is probably not feasable,
considering the price of the unit, I recomend ordering an extra cyl.. The
threads in the cyl. and tees appear to be metric, but are very close to
1/8" pipe. So any one wanting to remote mount the valve should be able to
do with out much problems. See my other post about using flexable grease
gun hoses.
As received my cyl. had a small amount of air in it, so you
may have to add oil to get all the air out.
You may want to adjust
the packing nut on the valve to make it easier to turn, it has a high
pressure seal on the needle and a seal in the packing nut.
When
making the coupling for the pin end of the cyl. note the pins may not be
exactly 180 degrees from each other.
Lots of ways to mount the cyl., so
it will be interesting to see what everyone else comes up with. We can all
thank Rod for getting this mod started, Thanks again Rod!
My next
mod it to make new guide arms, I don't like the cheesey alu. on my HF saw,
going to fasion them after the cast arms on other
saws.
