Hi guys, I'm still new here, although I've been a member for a little
while. I finally got the opportunity to get to a HF store and they
price matched Homier's old price of 99 dollars.

It took me about an hour or 2 to get it all assembled and fine tuned,
but I do have a few questions....

First, I will be cutting various amounts/types of metal such as
stainless, high carbon, 6061, and copper. What TPIs would you guys
recommend? I also plan on adding a coolant system.....if I do that,
what speeds are recommended???

Make sure the blade has at least three teeth in contact with the workpiece
at all times. Machinery's Handbook has a few pages devoted to blade
selection. I have an assortment 6S, 10-14V, 18S and 24S, and swap as
needed. Besure to use a name brand (Lenox, Starrett, etc), 0.025" max
thickness. The tension needs to be kept high, and the rollers properly
adjusted. I replaced my rollers with double-sealed bearings (the originals
are sealed on only one side).

I built a stand similar to the one on the Houston Home Metal Shop Club www
site. Do a Google search for it. My coolant system is a 5-gallon pail with a
cur-off bleach bottle inside for the particle trap. The pump is a Little
Giant 1-MA from Surplus Center. Nozzles are Loc-Line with check valves and
throttle/shutoff valves. Fluid is Lenox Band-Ade plus some biocide. Its
good for a year if I keep it aerated and covered. I use an aquarium pump
and bubbler stones once in a while when the saw sits idle for any length of
time. I'm in the process of replacing the stamped steel blade guide
brackets with heavier machined steel.

Second, I have been cutting 1/2"x3" copper stock. I used the slowest
speed and some cutting oil. It cuts great when I stand the bar up
vertically. However, when I place the bar flat, it stops cutting with
about 1/32" to go. The saw doesnt stop, the blade just stops cutting,
and I also have the tension in the pressure spring as low as possible
with out the I-bolt coming out of the handle. Any suggestions?

With flood coolant, I can cut aluminum and mild steel at 200fps. Stainless
and hard steel requires a slower speed. See Machinery's Handbook for
recommendations.

Third, I notice that the motor gets extremely hot after about 10
minutes.....If I leave the pulley cover off, it stays cooler a little
while longer, but not much. Is this normal???

Yes. Don't leave the saw running when unattended.

All in all, it seems to be a great saw for a 100 bux though.

See www.tinyisland.com for a good write-up about care and feeding of this
saw.
