I *thought* I needed to reduce the RHS shaft diameter, but it turns out I need to reduce the LHS.? ?I tested a series of different shim thicknesses and measured the top/bottom thickness differences.? If you plot the data in Excel you can come to a pretty close value for zero thickness difference on your test part.? ?
I read your paper a number of times and you are correct that one needs to machine down the shaft on the side where you have to shim.? ?I was doing this in my head and got it backwards.? ?I'm taking some time off from work over the holidays and will do this mod during this time.? ?
Yes, you are correct, the total run out should be around 0.066".? ?I was thinking about using a dial indicator and subtracting the high from the low value.
