X-Ray Tenax - R?ntgen-Tenax 6200/1
I have created a 'fact sheet' on the Zeiss IkonR?ntgen-Tenax 6200/1, which seems to have been made in the late 1930s/early1940s to help in the detection of TB. There seems to be four variants of the basicdesign which all used a Tenax 2 body stripped of the Compur shutter, self-timer, rangefindercoupling and direct vison viewfinder. Ihave attached a copy of this 'fact sheet' in the Files directory of ZICG and wouldwelcome comments/amendments ¨C I would particularly like direction to anycontemporary sources of information on this camera (medical equipment?) as Ihave so far failed to find any original material which mentions the R?ntgen-Tenax. New Zeiss Book 19
I am aware that our esteemed fellow Zeiss enthusiast is unlikely to blow his own trumpet, and at his age that would probably be unwise, but I am delighted that Larry Gubas' master work on Zeiss and Photography, all 890 pages plus CD, is now available from camera books.com I have already ordered my copy. Wartime "T" 1.5/50 Contax Sonnar? 4
Hi all. I'm a new member looking for some advice from experienced Zeiss lenses users/collectors. I'd like to add a 1.5 Sonnar to my Contax II and recently I saw this little thing. I was wondering if this looks to you like genuine wartime lens with factory T coating? http://postimg.org/gallery/v6nrvg94/62ee4951/ Any response will be appreciated. Thanks

Cleaning leather 6
Any suggestions on the best and/or safest way to clean the leather on a 1930s camera? Body leather (not bellows) is dirty with hint of mildew. Little bit of saddle soap perhaps? Any ideas welcome. Thanks, WES

Book about early SLRs available online 4
Hello dear Zeiss collectors, In the past weeks I have been in correspondance with Tom Lutton, who in 1992 published a book with facts about early SLRs, the "Lutton's List". After providing me with a copy, he asked me if I could scan his book and publish it online. So here you have it: https://sites.google.com/site/fromthefocalplanetoinfinity/books Scroll down until you see the sixth book, "Lutton's List", where you will find a link to download it freely in PDF. As it was written many years ago some information is out of date, but it is still an interesting source to find out the specifications of the early 35mm SLRs. I hope you enjoy it. Regards, Daniel Jim¨¦nez

New Zeiss Book & Emanuel Goldberg 2
One source of information about the development of the Zeiss Kinamo (ICA before that) Is Michael Buckland¡¯s book, "Emanuel Goldberg and His Knowledge Machine¡±. That book is a good history of Goldberg and his association with Zeiss and the development of the Contax. Some of the members of Zeiss Historica have a DVD of movies shot with the Kinamo. I found the book fascinating. My copy of Larry¡¯s new book is on the way and I¡¯ll be looking for info on the Kine cameras. Maurice

Lenses for Tenax II 3
Does anyone have a picture of a schematic or diagram of the optical formula for the 7.5cm f4 Sonnar for the Tenax II? This optic was also made in movie camera mount and for the Robot. A jpg or equivalent would be most useful. Also, has anyone ever seen, own, or have a picture of the other prototyped lenses for the Tenax II? Thiele lists: A Biotar, 3.5cm f2, two each. A Triotar, 4cm f3.5, two each. A Tessar, 4cm f3.5, two each. and a 7.5cm f3.5 Tessar, one each. Any additional information concerning these rare beasts would be most appreciated for my research. Thanks, WES LODER

Triotar 8,5cm Lens - Contax or Contaflex?

pre-war contameter dates 11
Before WWII, Zeiss Ikon made a whole series of Contameters (1338-1343). Each Contameter in its series appears to have gone through three different models. In one series, the closeup lenses are nested to the left of the case, one on top of the other with a ribbon to lift them out. In another series, the three closeup lenses lie side-by-side toward the front of a shallow case with a clasp to secure the lid. In the third series, the three lenses sit vertically to the left of a deeper case without a clasp. My question is: Which came first? Which came second and third? And what would be the approximate dates for each model? Trying to make sense of the variations. Thanks, WES LODER
