More about motor in hoods
Yuji Kuwabara <[email protected]
Hello.
For most EMD hood units, their hood width should be 8.3 mm in Z scale. Using 8 mm dia. motor in the hood, the shell must be 0.1 mm in thickness where it meets with motor's outmost. In my case, I place the motor between fuel tank molds. This method also allows to use one-side-shaft as is. The drawback is I cannot build shorter locomotives such as switchers. Thanks. It would be wonderful to see affordable GP-9's or 7's in Z scale. Maybe Micro Trains will take up the cause someday. When that happens Z scale will have really arrived! Dave in Kansas |
