Open for Comment: Terminal 46 scoping
Hello all, Thank you for those who attended the Multi-lingual Duwamish Boat Tour on Saturday! Hopefully everyone in the neighborhood has received postcards at your home or business related to the Terminal 46 scoping period underway now, if not, please let me know and I can provide more info for you. If you’re able, join us in Georgetown tomorrow, Oct 30th! If not, don’t worry – there are many other ways to learn more and provide input by the deadline, 4pm on Nov 13th. This is the start of a long process to get your input; please consider this comment period as a good time to start asking important questions about how this proposal relates to your community! Here’s a summary on what it’s all about: CALL FOR COMMENTS: Port Terminal 46 Cruise Terminal Development What: The Port of Seattle is proposing to develop a new cruise terminal at Terminal 46 (located near Pioneer Square west of Century Link Field) as part of a flexible marine transportation facility which will continue to support cargo and other marine operations. Purpose: The proposed cruise terminal would add the capacity needed to accommodate the growing demand for Alaska, Pacific Northwest, and West Coast cruises, which can no longer be met by the existing berths at the Port’s Terminal 91 and Pier 66. What are we collecting comments on? Scoping is a process for determining the scope of issues that will be addressed in the environmental review document. Your comments can provide input regarding the proposed action and reasonable alternatives and can identify concerns regarding the potential environmental effects. Comments received during Scoping will be reviewed and taken into consideration during the preparation of the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) analysis. The SEPA is a state law. It requires agencies, like the Port, to evaluate the likely environmental consequences of proposed development actions. SEPA provides direction for the environmental review process, including preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for certain projects. The draft EIS will be ready for your public review and comment in early 2020. What elements will be included in the proposed cruise terminal development? Cruise building Cruise-related parking On-site transportation circulation Connection to the local transportation system Utilities Access to the deep-water berth Shore power Street improvements and landscaping Pedestrian access and connection the waterfront and downtown Seattle WHAT DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE SCOPING PROCESS? LEARN MORE AND COMMENT ON OUR WEBSITE: Terminal 46 Cruise Development Online “Open House” (Click “Participate”) at: http://www.T46cruise.participate.online All comments are due no later than 4:00 p.m. November 13, 2019. Check out tips on commenting from the Dept. of Ecology. Your comments may also be submitted via: EMAIL: SEPA@... In writing to: Laura Wolfe, Port of Seattle, Pier 69, 2711 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98121 In writing and/or verbally at the three EIS Public Scoping Meetings/Open Houses: These meetings will provide opportunities to learn more about the project and proposed actions, and to provide input on the environmental review process. Ham Radio licensed people still needed in South Park
South Park still does not have any known ham radio licensed people to volunteer at the South Park Hub in the case of any emergency or disaster. If you are willing, please sign up below. If you get your license, talk to me about getting a radio for free. Ham Radio License Class Thanks to Seattle ACS and the West Seattle Amateur Radio Club, there are two Amateur Radio Licensing classes being held in West Seattle during November! (starting Nov 5) Amateur radio is a great hobby and a great way to serve the community. One can communicate locally, around the world or even via satellite, and it provides an excellent means of emergency communication. Classes are held over multiple weekends in November at South Seattle College. The Level 1 - “Technician” class license is the basic level needed for local emergency communications. The level 2 or “General” class license offers more privileges - primarily for longer distance communications. The classes must be taken and passed sequentially. Click on the class title below for details and to register. Amateur Radio Technician Licensing (Level 1) Class Amateur Radio General Licensing (Level 2) Class -- Dagmar Cronn Treasurer, South Park Senior Center 8201 10th Ave S. - #4 Seattle, WA 98108-4449 206-767-2544 (office) 206-327-1828 (cell)

GOT LEAVES?
Come to the SPNA meeting on November 12th to pick up some free bags or see other locations below if you want to pick up those leaves before the rain returns! From November 1–30, Seattle Public Utilities will collect up to 10 extra bags of leaves for FREE. Keeping leaves out of the street and storm drains is a great way to help protect your neighborhood from flooding. Here are two great options for your fall leaves: 1. Rake the leaves in your yard and put them into compostable paper lawn & leaf bags or a reusable container with a lid. Place the extras next to your yard waste container on collection day – no plastic bags. 2. Place raked leaves on bare soil as mulch in your landscape and garden. This conserves water, controls weeds and fertilizes the soil. Contact the Garden Hotline to learn more: (206) 633-0224 www.gardenhotline.org Pick up FREE Compostable Paper Lawn & Leaf Bags at the following locations: South Park Branch Library – 8604 8th Ave S South Park Community Center – 8319 8th Ave S Neighborhood Service Center – 8201 10th Ave S South Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA) 8201 10th Ave. S. favor for an ex-SP'er 5
I'm hoping someone can help? I wasn't able to move all my stuff 2 years ago and am coming back up next week to get the rest.. I, of course, no longer have the house on Southern St.. so I no longer have a driveway to plop a 16' shipping container on. It is one of those 1800PackRat deals where they drop it off and pick it up. AAAA Storage doesn't allow to drop it there, and I will have it from the 18th - 20th or 21st. I've asked Aerospace machinists local about using their parking lot but no word on them yet so I'm asking you all if anyone knows somewhere in SouthPark I might be able to drop a container so I can load it? Any ideas please PLEASE let me know.. this is my one and only shot to get my stuff out of storage without losing it all to auction..I'm fretting this already and trying to not stress. Thank you, and I really miss SouthPark.. like.. ALOT!!! Sincerely.. just Freeway ;)
