SO2R box utility bug
Hi
?
I am using the YCCC SO2R Box for audio? routing for my remote station.? Without contest software, just using the SO2R utility.? Turns out that choosing STEREO on the SO2R Box utility disconnects the device with message? "Device removed" and only walking over the the station and cycling the power will fix this.
?
Any ideas?
?
Thanks!

I just tried this with an SO2R Box.? Clicking Stereo causes it to receive from both radios.? So I cannot reproduce this problem. What version of the SO2R Box firmware are you using? You might try resetting the SO2R Box to the default settings using the Reset button at the bottom right of the SO2R Box Utility window. Another thing to try is using the SO2R Box program.? If you do not check the SO2R, Pipes, or TCP/IP boxes it will show a set of? check boxes which can be used to select the receiver and transmitter.? Does it work if you select Stereo this way? ??? Hi Paul,
Well this is what IT support should look?like ?:
I am using firmware 1.6.0 and the utility says version 1.8.0.
I just did the reset, it says
Device removed
Device attached
And when I click "connect" I get connected + SO2R box version 1.6.0.
I click on RX Radio 2
TX Radio 2
Then click Stereo.
I get Device removed.
Trying "connect" says Not Connected.
Turning the HW off allows me to get the Connected SO2RBox Version 2..6.-0.
I changed a bit of wiring such that my remote AC switch turns off ALSO this box, so I am OK for now.
Thanks!

I just tried the same steps and it worked with my SO2R Box.? I am running the same utility and firmware versions. Could you click verbose Output on the SO2R Box Utility and then try those steps agan?? You can send the output directly to me rather than to the group. ??? Hi
Just turned things OFF.
Did verbose
However the SW is not supporting copy/paste for this email.
Is there a log to send?
Click RX R2, TX R2.
Click Stereo
HOWever, I see that one OTHER SW on my setup sees a glitch with recovery for that HW and all is well afterwards.
This is a interface card by velleman.
Perhaps this is a particular local issue.
Is there a way to make sure the the HID devices for sure have different addrs/whatever??

Really looks like I must have an other HID device on my system that "likes not" the SO2R box connection.
How could I figure out ?what it is??

I don't think the utility has a way to save the log.? It is pretty old.? The best thing to do is to take a snapshot of the window. ??? Paul On Wed, Sep 25, 2024 at 12:05?PM Markku Oksanen <markku.a.oksanen@...> wrote:

Hi
Now I can see what the OTHER HW glitch is.? When I press Stereo, PTT is set and this is seen in my other interface card based control HW.
IT is NOT a HID device conflict as the control HW is connected to another PC, however it watches PTT.? This is PTT that goes first to the radio from the SO2R box and then my own HW.
Now, I can consistently make the SO2R box lose connection by pushing Stereo, in verbose it says received SO2R state 0x07, then device removed.? Every 3-4 disconnects the connection recovers on its own, I mean the device removed is followed by device added.?
Pressing connect recovers funtion.
I failed to mention that I am running WIN7 Ultimate X64.
Thanks

SO2R state 0x07 means that TX2 is selected, RX2 is selected, and Stereo is selected.? That is what you are setting so it is correct. The only things I can think of are that the SO2R Box firmware is corrupt or that something is wrong with the computer.? I suggest you re-install the firmware on the SO2R Box.? You can do this with the utility.? If that doesn't work can you try it with another computer? ??? Paul, K1XM On Thu, Sep 26, 2024 at 3:05?AM Markku Oksanen <markku.a.oksanen@...> wrote:

If you conclude that the SO2R Box has a hardware problem let me know what you find and I'll try to help debug it. ??? Paul On Tue, Oct 8, 2024 at 12:49?PM Markku Oksanen <markku.a.oksanen@...> wrote:

Aand..
As is traditional, the problem is never the actual device.
My apologies for taking the BW.
The "wall wart" PSU had a strange, intermittent failure, all was good for over 10 years but now it glitches to either 0 volts or something and then the YCCC box goes nuts.

ps
I probably find out that this is not true in the morning....?

I got back to this.
I re-did my N1MM setup with all the necessary SW pieces in between the YCCC box and and N1MM.
It takes some tens of minutes and then the connection is again lost.? Power OFF/ON fixes it.
Next, must check PSU....? This is HW problem from the looks of it.

Intermittent failures are the most difficult to find.? I'm glad you got it. ??? Paul On Wed, Oct 9, 2024 at 11:09?AM Markku Oksanen <markku.a.oksanen@...> wrote:

Hi Paul,
All seems to be good.? I looks like the PSU went to protection / Vout goes to zero and would not recover unless the load was removed.
Very strange but this one was not a cheap switching PSU, rather a 317 or 7812 type for the regulation.
Thanks everybody?for the advice!
