Left side audio only

Hi all,

I’ve just bought used YCCC SO2R+ box. Successfully installed all the needed software, virt com ports etc. The box work properly with N1MM. Keying both radios and switching focus. The only thing I have problem with is right side audio in headphones. On left side I can hear left radio, right radio and both. On right side can hear nothing… Already checked phone plug, did some eye inspection of the board, resoldered bad looking connections on the board and stil no audio in right ear.
Next I’m going to go through the audio path checking all the elemnts etc. but before that I would like to ask a question here. Maybe any of you had the same problem before. Maybe it is some well know problem or any of you have some sugestions?

Would be much appreciated for any help.

Cezar

I would look for an unsoldered connection, probably around the relays.
I'd also look for an unsoldered connection at the audio input/output jacks.

Hi Cezar,

It is possible but unlikely that this is caused by a problem with the firmware or EEPROM values in the microprocessor.? Run the SO2R Box Utility, press Connect to connect to the SO2R Box, and press Reset to reset the EEPROM.? You could also download the latest firmware and install it, which would overwrite any bad firmware in the microprocessor.

If you are able to switch the left side correctly then the microprocessor hardware and connections to the multiplex chip are almost certainly OK as the digital connections used are the same for both left and right channels.

There have been a few boards with bad solder connections on the corner pins of the surface mount ICs.? I suggest you listen to the box while pressing on the pins of the audio amplifier and multiplex chips with an insulated tool.? If that doesn't work the easiest way to test is to use an audio source.? There are not many parts in the signal path.? If you are lucky you will find a band solder joint.? If not, one of the ICs will need to be replaced.

You can contact me directly if you have additional questions.

Yes. ?Just checked DigiKey and Mouser. It’s avalibale. I will try to ask nearby smartfon/laptop service to help me replace the chip. Will let you know how it goes.?

Paul, Dennis,
Thanks for quick replay to my question.?
