One more brag

I entered a sweater in the Rhinebeck finished item competition. This is the first year I've ever entered anything in a competition, let alone two. But since I'd never done a fully handspun sweater before, I decided to enter them.

I got First place in the category, Best Knitted Item and Best in Show for the sweater! I've attached a photo of it with all the ribbons. Better photos are on Ravelry. The Best of Show ribbon is longer than the sweater itself!

I'm pretty pleased

Thank you all! It is lovely and soft and cuddly and warm - I think from the baby camel in it.?

I’m sorry I missed you Laura and Steph. I’m afraid I only ventured out of the workshop building in very short bursts. As one of my fellow volunteers said - “there’s too many people out there!” when she came back. I did a bit more walking around Sunday mid-day when the crowds were a bit lighter but even then I just went to see the booths I had marked off as wanting to see.?

I took a drum carding class with the Clemes family and really learned a lot. I bought 1 ring distaff, a hair brush cleaner for cleaning my drum carder, a box of tea and some fudge! ツ

Mostly just checked in students, helped teachers, setup and replenished/cleaned up the refreshments and hung out with my fellow volunteers. I did a lot of people watching out of the windows and looked for y’all heading to the restrooms by the first aid station but didn’t see you.

Thanks! Yes, I was a bit afraid of the fit. The sweater schematics show a very tight upper arm for me and I had already gone up a size as recommended by the designer. I emailed with her and her solutions didn't work for me - she wanted me to start with the larger size and divide the sts differently between the body and sleeves. But I needed to drop the armhole a bit anyway because I like roomy armholes. I realized that doing those few more rows before splitting for sleeves and body brings that top of the sleeve down a bit and at that point the measurement fit. When you steek the body and sleeves and knit them together, you don't really get a chance to try it on fully till you've cut and sewn the steeks. So it is a bit of a risk. But I was measuring and was a bit looser on gauge so I figured it would work out.
