Re: Baby blanket squares

Lovely, subtle tones!

And I remember now that you did tell us grand-daughter's name before. Very musical choice. In our family, everything gets shortened, so she would be "Allie" in no time. My nephew named their daughter "Clementine" but nobody, not even her parents, uses the full name. I admire people who manage to stick to their original choice (and persuade others to do it also).

?This yarn is really nice. (Hobby Lobby Yarntopia) I did several swatches and a 4.0 mm hook works great. Any smaller and it splits. Bigger looks floppy but still crochets great.

Here’s a few done.

Fave baby blanket yarn

I ended up at Hobby Lobby tonight. I went to get the I Love This Yarn in sportweight but not enough colors were in stock.

I ended up with their Yarntopia. The colors are perfect. It’s extremely soft with a silky feel. Should drape beautifully.

I intend to order some Stylecraft DK for other baby items. Lots and lots of things will be made!

I’ll post a pic as soon as I get some blocks done.

Thanks guys!!

I didn't check the pattern for the desired? yarn weight, and I sort of hate to endorse them, but I've had very good luck with the I Love This Yarn line from Hobby Lobby. There's a huge range of colors, and the yarn holds up well to careless laundering.

Just picked it from a list of baby names as far as I know. ??

Here, longer and more elegant names are back in fashion – Penelope Elaine, Harriet? Alexandra, Ottilie Henrietta and Clementine Beatrice being just 4 examples which I have come across in the last year or so. I’d love to know what the trends are in other English-speaking countries.

I like the sport weight cotton from Appalachian Baby Designs. Washable, soft, and I’m pretty sure they have all the colors you’re looking for.?

Re: Hello

progress report from snowy northern Arizona ...

Happily ensconced?at home using UP my lifetime accumulation of assorted craft supplies while vicariously enjoying Lily Chin's current trip to Antartica :-) Thankful?that "world wide events" convinced me to "close up shop" three years ago and "seriously" retire ... while loving my neighborhood and tiny town so much I have no interest in travel beyond visiting my dentist of over twenty years whose office is two hours away.

Feeling ever so greatFULL that my genetics have gifted me with optimism and health - other than a couple of over used finger joints ... and being a bit nostalgic as part of the over 70 Club and remembering the neighbors who "aged out" of life leaving their empty houses behind ... my current goal is to become the Oldest Person in the World and consider it a miracle my lifestyle has allowed me to get this far #LovesSugarEatsKale

Spent the end of last year publishing personal manuscripts on Lulu.com because it is cheeeeep to print two copies of a book - one to wrap in plastic and one to thumb through. So very satisfying to have little books with pretty covers rather than stacks of notes! Started with a 50,000 word manuscript I had completed for NaNoWriMo ten years ago that I wanted?to read - and could not bear to tackle in the "stack of computer printed pages" version.

January snows meant heading to the sewing room for a wardrobe refresh?beginning with perfecting the fitting of undergarments and refilling my drawers - as a practical (Steve Jobs boring type) dresser ... fit is first. Currently working on not being afraid to use the "good" fabric I have stacked on the shelves - trying not to look at Spoonflower AND enjoying using all the colors after years of black.?

Will cycle back to knitting, crocheting, and theremin playing this summer when it is too hot to be anywhere other than sitting quietly on the front porch. THANKS to all y'all for opening a window on the wider world for me!

erica - planning on making mackerel?potstickers and peanut butter cookies today :-)
