I know someone on Ravelry who insists that all face masks make her claustrophobic so she doesn’t wear one.? She lives in Utah and is a biologist so she should know better, but I have managed to refrain from suggesting something like a face shield to at least give a tiny bit of protection to others. ? I also refrained from saying something to someone I know who was wearing a bandanna mask (which apparently are second from the bottom in effectiveness) today because I know her well enough to know I wasn’t going to win the argument. ? Speaking of masks and effectiveness, does anyone have good data lately about 2 layers vs 3 for cloth masks?? I’m not going to use something like Filti that I know several of you have used because I need to make sure whatever it is can tolerate frequent laundering, but I could go back to adding a layer of nonwoven interfacing as I originally had been before I read a scientific publication that said that two layers of quilting cotton were good. ? Ok what’s worse - an unmasked mom, or her unmasked child napping in her trunk? Just walked at the beach - we don’t go on the weekends but at 6 when it’s 70 degrees out it’s really easy to social distance. That was the sight that greeted me pulling in to the lot.?

Yup. I see one set of porchsitters regularly- at 30’. Otherwise encounters are rare and distanced. As a result, I stopped wearing the mask round my neck on dog walks.
In contrast, we (A, M and I) all schlepp masks on backpacking trips to wear in the parking lot and 1-2 miles near the trailhead... Regardless of how soggy nights - and downpours - in the Smokies make them!

Walking in the neighborhood these days rather than on the trail (D&L) because the trail seems to be super crowded all the time and there's virtually no one walking near our house. I carried a mask a couple times, but usually, I don't bother. The few places I go where there are other people (grocery, farm stand, bird store) I wear a mask and give the stink eye to anyone wearing theirs below their nose!
