Re: New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
I’ve installed 4 (soon to be 5) of these and never heard of this problem. It’s a really complicated, tricky install and you could mess up lots of things if you make a mistake! Here’s a ton of

Re: New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
I’d run to the nearest hardware store and get a $10 (or more) multi-meter, set it to 200 VAC range and check the voltage coming out of the transformer! On multi-thousand-dollar (US or AU) gear

Re: New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
I've ordered a Kenton Midi Kit . Anyone have one of these fitted? I've heard it can mess with the aftertouch?

Re: New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
There seems to be power coming out of the converter, well it hums slightly when i turn it on. I don't have any other 110v machines with me at the moment to check if it is working ok though. The

Re: New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
I suspect you've taken out the fuse in the stepdown transformer. CS should be OK. to be safe you should overate your stepdown transformer, so you've got a nice bit of headroom. Make sure that it's

Re: New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
Maybe step down transformer is dead, or some protector inside it. CS80 asked more power then it could supply... Just check it's output if there's voltage. If yes, you can check fuses in CS, but

New CS-80 (old obviously) just arrived to Brisbane Australia , No POWER
Hiya got a cs-80 from LA shipped by FedEX, arrived plugged it in, it is labelled 117 Volt 180W . I used a step-down converter rated at 75W - i used it for my Memorymoog Plus. The CS_80 worked

Re: Service manual errors / KAS question
Oh - and you're of course correct about only 3 used values. The 4th would be 0k in parallel with 3.3M and 470k, which is still zero (give or take the 100Ω - 200Ω on resistance of the 4016

Joachim - thanks so much - great pics! I had already ordered some 10k trimmers that should arrive today. More updates to my corrected version of the service manual! I'll really be on the

Re: Service manual errors / KAS question
I've just posted three close-up photos of my own KAS: http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/yamahacs80/photos/albums/519437225 (these components are very likely original) They all confirm the

D-oh! Thanks for the reminder Joachim. I knew that but had a mental block. Still not sure whether it’s this particular CS80 or the docs. To re

Re: Service manual errors / KAS question
Concerning the 0.01?F caps: This part of the circuit is to create the glissando from the portamento: the low-pass filter just smooth the steps of the glissando to produce the portamento. It is

Re: No Filtersignal in Panelmode in Voice I / wiring of panel ?
Sounds like a problem with the switching of the filter section. Need to look at how the panel switch switches between various presets, and the panel, memory sliders. Could be a dirty switch contact,

Re: No Filtersignal in Panelmode in Voice I / wiring of panel ?
Hi Florian, This could be a wire issue as suggested by the second part of your post. Concerning the coding, it does follow the conventions (at least in the pages dedicated to T51, T52 and M11

Re: Service manual errors / KAS question
Thanks. I’ve never known of difference versions of the CS80 service manual, but I guess it’s possible. The silkscreen on the board matches the manual too - and not the actual part that was on

Wish I could help but I'm clueless: I do have some of the original CS80 documents lying around the house so I will take a look and find out: if there is a difference, I will FedEx them to you. Give

No Filtersignal in Panelmode in Voice I / wiring of panel ?
Hello, I have a weird problem with a CS-80: there is no signal coming from the filters in section 1 if the synth is in panel mode. The sine signal is coming through fine. The presets and memory 1 and

Re: Service manual errors / KAS question
More I just found: VR5 on the KAS is actually 5k, not 2k. This one is troubling since it’s a time-constant: all the 0.01?F caps that feed the 3.3MΩ resistors into the output buffer S/H are
