Re: the best substitute for a cs-80
and, as implied, a polymoog can get pretty close SONICALLY(obviously not performance-wise).

Re: the best substitute for a cs-80
My vote for a CS-80 substitute goes to two CS-50s. You can play them together in unison with different settings and get *a lot* of the CS-80 sound. Yes the CS-70M does have the dual channel

You have obviously never tried a CS70m. Fredrik Segerfalk www.analogsweden.com Wavecomputer360 wrote:

Re: the best substitute for a cs-80
You might want to give the GX-1 a try :-). Seriously, I think a CS60 comes closest to the 80 in terms of performance, and even a CS50 can do a lot of the tricks -- if not the best, alas -- of the 80.

Re: the best substitute for a cs-80
The closest thing is imo the CS70m. You lose the velocity sensitivity and some other features, but in all it's a great synth with the same VCO, VCF etc as the CS-80 + you get the 2 vco/voice, which

Re: sub oscillator external in / portamento question / detune slider
Thanks. However, the korg MS-04 seems to be an expensive solution I'm afraid. Maybe it makes sense to install a modification on the CS80: Changing the external-in jack from an input to a situation

the best substitute for a cs-80
I've only become obsessed with the CS-80 for the past several months...since I don't have $20k to throw down on one, what is the next best option? I've seen a lot of people talk about the CS-60 as

Re: sub oscillator external in / portamentoquestion / detune slider
This is an audio input guys....not a pedal port..... It utilizes the input as a Frequency/Amplitude Modulator to the Sub oscillator (or FM to the CS80 Sub Mix as Carrier.) I send Mic level unbalanced

Re: sub oscillator external in / portamento question / detune slider
The Korg MS-04 pedal might be what you are looking for. It works with a 9V DC or battery and belongs to the vintage MS-02/10/20/50 family. It is amazingly solid and very flexible. If you really want

Re: sub oscillator external in / portamento question / detune slider
Just tried to feed a sine-wave from an ARP2600 into the sub-osc-external-in on the back of the CS80. I controlled the amplitude of the sinewave by controlling the APR's VCA with a cv-pedal. That works

Re: Help with 8.5v rail
I don't think that that is the problem. I'm getting 22 volts off of the rails and a voltage drop of 15 volts across the zener. I would think that that 820 would go out if it was shorted. Oh, I'm

Re: Help with 8.5v rail
Hi i ad a similar problem with a minimoog , it was the zener refence zener diode , i think on the cs-80 it is the d715 , it is thermaly insulated . Look if this zener is not open or shorted . On the

You mean a BD234 or 2sd234 right? Thanks for responding Kent. I'm going to give it a shot. On another note, do you sell extraction springs for the ribbon controller? -Mike

Help with 8.5v rail
A few months ago, I accidentally shorted the 8.5v rail to ground while calibrating VR723. (I know, I'm an idiot.) Common sense told me to take out TR709, check it and replace. I replaced TR709 with
