TX Output Spike

Wes Atchison All Messages By This Member #86 I searched the group and have not found this subject.? Does the FT-920 have an RF spike when PTT is applied?? A lot of radios of that vintage do but have not seen or heard of the FT920 having it. -- Wes WA5TKU
Sebastian Petters All Messages By This Member #87 Hey Wes, i have 2 FT-920. One of them produce RF spikes (the newer one). If you set the TRX to eg. 5W, the spikes will be full 100W. The other one doesn't (the older one). So best would be to measure yours.

Sebastian Petters All Messages By This Member #89 Thats the way i measured it - with an storage scope. Currently, i have no idea about the duration of the spikes - but it was enough to kill an Amp of a friend. I can measure them again, but first i have to finish another broken FT920. Hopefully at weekend, i'm ready for measure.
