From bad to worse

Well, after buying TIL306's and TIL308's and replacing them, now I have an FT301D that doesn't change frequency.? Just sits on the low end of whatever band it's switched to.? (3.500, 7,000, etc.).? Anyone have any ideas?? This radio is cosmetically great, and did receive very well; the only problem was the leftmost digit wouldn't display 2's, 1's only and the tenths of Khz digit (rightmost) had some segments out.? I never should have worked on this over Halloween !!!?? Help.? Anyone?

I have a 301D doing the same thing

Try adjusting the VFO (triggering) resistor in the VFO compartment. It’s a small pot that will stabilize the readout frequency. My readout kept flickering at the tenths of kHz and this adjustment fixed it.

Hi Forest.? I'll try that.? Any idea about the freq not changing all of a sudden after I replaced the readout board?? And do you know the Ebay sellers ID of the fellow in Italy that had the replacement assemblies for sale?? I can't find anything about him.? Thanks.

Have you found any possible cause?? Mine didn't do it until I pulled the LED board out.? Found out I didn't need to do that to change the LED's as they're socketed (unfortunately I found out AFTER pulling it!).

I don't know yet.

I used to sell them and probably still have one as well as the stabilizer. Elcon sells them. They're great. One of the first things I do with a 301 when it comes through is yank out the display and replace it with an Elcon. Programable. Very nice piece.
