I also purchased a? 301 without the cable (or power supply) in the past.
There used to be a guy on qth.com who sold power cables for various vintage (and not so vintage) radios. I haven't seen the posting from him recently though. A quick check just now, didn't reveal him either. Unusually, ebay also looks dry.. (not a member of qrz, so can't check them).
Last year I ran across someone at a hamfest selling NOS cinch jones 12-pin female (for the 301 and I <think> 101 line). I paid $10 ea. for just the connectors. I am planning on wiring up as needed. Given that it needs 12 ga wire, this assembly gets expensive fast. The connectors have cinch jones / patent molded on them, but the back-shell doesn't. I guess they could still be counterfeit. They do seem to fit snugly on the rig I tested it on and I plan on using as needed. Right now I share one power cable between 2 301's as needed.
I fear the cost of the connector and shipping alone would likely exceed $30 and that's without the cable itself - you would still have to supply wire and build it.

The lab crystal may not be starting reliably¡.old age¡.may need to try varying the ?capacitors in its circuit. Dave.

I have a 500 Hz CW filter that has quit working due to age. It failed to pass the CW Tune signal so I took it out of the FT-301. It is an International Crystals filter.

Hi,
Drifting out of spec xtals are typical, Ive had to do the same on others boards as well. This is good input for others trying to fix their FT301s, thanks. There is a company in the Netherlands that has most of the xtals in the 301, Ive purchased a few resurrecting other 301s. CW and SSB filters drift as well since they have xtals inside that have drifted. These filters can be reworked and xtals replaced.

you might want to sweep your crystal filters also. I have read on the internet somewhere that they also age and change frequency.
I have to many projects going on and cant give you any other information.

My manual did have an obvious mistake in the alignment instructions, but in truth I think it was a typo. D.

Do all manuals have the same calibration instructions. I have older 301Ds with different rev boards than the newer 301Ds. If there are different manual versions could you upload them to this site?

I¡¯ve had the same issues with the USB and LSB xtals had to change caps to get them back inline.
Any one know of a xtal manufacturer that can makes these HC49U. Back in the day I used Jan crystal. I¡¯ve looked around and found Transko down in Anaheim CA but they don¡¯t have any 9 mhz blanks.
