YACC Maps
Hi,
I've just started using YACC on Linux (Debian 12) with Direwolf and a USB CM108 modem, I downloaded the pre formatted tiles for my location (England GB) and unfortunately there are a few issues with some of the tiles and the coastline. I downloaded the tiles directly from OSM and imported them into YAAC. I've tried to delete the old map tiles but cant work out how. Unfortunately the old maps are still rendered - can someone suggest a way forward ? Many thanks, James G1PVZ |
Greetings.
I'm always trying to improve the maps for issues like you're seeing,. Specifically, what is the error you are seeing? I looked you up on aprs.fi, and I see the south coastline near you isn't drawn correctly, so I'll be looking into that. The pre-formatted tiles normally will contain the same data as you would get from importing them yourself, but I haven't yet released the updated tiles produced by the latest two builds of YAAC, so they might be different if you import the data yourself. Importing will overwrite the tile files previously downloaded or created by importing, so you're not really going to gain anything. However, if you really want to get rid of what you already have, find where your configured tiledir is (specified on the General tab of the expert-mode Configure dialog). You can delete everything in the tiledir, and that will eliminate all map data (imported OSM data and topographic data). Hope that helps. Dear Andrew ,
Thanks for the very rapid reply - - you are correct the coastline around the whole of the UK/Eire is a bit odd in places.? Also there are strange "Q19700 pour Wikidata" text boxes (one in in Wales circled in red)? also parts of the Bristol channel are in white rather than the blue for the sea (also circled in red).? Hopefully when you get the opportunity to release new pre-formatted maps these might be fixed. Here are the screenshots - Thanks for writing and releasing such a great piece of APRS software. 开云体育James:
The combined fixes in build#184 and the latest map import should solve your problem. So upgrade and refresh your map data, and hopefully all will be well.

Hi Andrew,
I've updated both YAAC and the loaded the latest pre-imported OSM map tiles. YAAC is as wonderful as before, but the issues with the maps I described are still there - it must be an issue with OSM. One question is there an easy way to list stations received over the air (RF) when you have an IP feed at the same time ? thanks again, James G1PVZ |
Strange. I looked at the areas you posted, and they seem OK to me. Could you send some more screen shots so I can double-check with the latest code?
Re: filtering RF vs. IS: Yes, that's easy. Go to the Filter->Edit Filter menu choice, and on the Miscellaneous tab, in the "Stations Within Local Contact" section, click the "RF Stations" radio button (rather than "All Stations"). 开云体育Also, could you go to YAAC's File->OpenStreetMap->Download Pre-Imported Tiles menu choice, and send me a screenshot of the resulting dialog (before you start downloading). I want to make sure there isn't an issue in what version of the map dataset
I have on the webserver (such as the old version).
Thanks in advance.

开云体育The same areas along the shoreline you showed me before with the old code and map data. I looked there on my system before the update and saw the same problem as you did. I don't see it now with the new code and map data, so I want to make sure
it's not a different place (with different issues).

Hi Andrew, |
Hi Andrew,
Re: filtering RF vs. IS: Yes, that's easy. Go to the Filter->Edit Filter menu choice, and on the Miscellaneous tab, in the "Stations Within Local Contact" section, click the "RF Stations" radio button (rather than "All Stations"). Would be possible to have? a toggle button (say next to the message pause buttons) on the menu button bar? to do this ? That would be really handy ! thanks, James G1PVZ |
The odd "Q19700 pour Wikidata" is a strange ref="" key somebody attached to the OSM Relation id#11888769 for the River Taff. YAAC treats ref="" attributes of a tag as a highway route number (like the M5 symbol you can see near Gloucestershire). But this one is very poorly formatted, as the value provided could not be used automatically to look up other data about the geographical feature (due to the "pour Wikidata" suffix in the text).
