Probably because there isn't a feature in core YAAC to automatically open a GPX (or KML) map drawing at YAAC startup. If YAAC is shut down, you presently have to manually reload any map drawings at YAAC restart from the File->Load menu.
However, the routes used by the Dynamic Objects plugin can be persisted over YAAC restarts. So, if you install that plugin, and load your GPX file as a route rather than a plain map drawing overlay, you can specify that the route is persisted.
