Unable to save beacon settings
Can't see my station at aprs.fi
Wizard can't be used to completion; selections are greyed

Don,

It looks like you may have run YAAC as sudo-root, and are now trying to run it as a normal user while all of YAAC's configuration files are owned by root (and therefore unmodifiable by mere users), Also, is your mere-user account a member of the Linux group that has access to the real serial ports on your system? The wizard buttons for those port types would be disabled if you don't have permission to access the serial device files.

To help me troubleshoot your problem, could you try to configure your system again, then exit YAAC and privately email me the YAAC.out file in your YAAC logfiles directory? The logfiles directory defaults to ~/YAAC/logdir unless you have configured it somewhere else. This file contains debug and error information from running YAAC, but it is limited to the last 128K of messages (so that a seriously broken system can't fill up the disk with flooded error log files).
