Xpander/M12 autotuning/tuning table query

hi all,

wondering if anyone can explain the autoning process and the storage of tuning tables to me (the service manual is pretty helpful, but this pertains to the issue below).

Basically, after having not had to tune my M12 for months, I suddenly found a few voices slightly out of tune yesterday. I attributed this to recent weather and autotuning cured it. But then I hit "untune" (just to see how "out" everything really was) and had to go through the whole tuning process again. (the only recent "change" was that I rotated out some 3372s under the hood, but the 3374s were untouched.)

Jump forward to today, turning on this morning, I found a couple of voices were beating more than the others. After it had warmed up for a while, I began hitting autotune until all voices were yielding pretty much no significant beating. That tuning has now been fine for the rest of the day.

So getting back to my initial question: does it make sense for the autotune tuning tables to improve their accuracy with increased time (and also after full warmup)? Obviously there's no "background" tuning, but the voices seem to have improved stability overall through the day. Given that my need to tune yesterday was a bit of a surprise, I'm just wondering if there's some creeping issue I should be aware of, or if this sounds normal.

I should add that this was recapped fairly recently, so I don't suspect anything there.

The reason is different heat coefficients for different calibre of 10 % accurate parts from 40 years ago.
It's awesome. ?I will hit the tune button on my MKS80 all day. ?i never turn off my Arp 2600 ITS IN TUNE!

the compromise!

This isn't really a general case of vintage analog "stability". Hoping someone with knowledge of the autotune process might be able to chime in.
