HI!
Been a way from my Xpander for quite some time.? I used to use Galaxy Ed/Lib back in the day. Now I have Midi Quest on my PC and want to load some sounds into the Xpander in the last few days. Any tricks?? I tried sending some patches to the X, but no luck.? Channels correct, used both MidiQuest and Bome to try and send sysex, but again - No Luck. Any help appreciated.
Also, am I correct that the Xpander WILL also accept Matrix 12 patches? Yes, I know it's for an Xpander, but I wanted to triple check with all of you with experience.? Thanks in advance!

Jacob, I finally had time to try your suggestion and saw that the System X was off. I turned it on and sent the file via BOME sysex program. Still no luck.? Sadness. Thx. ?Robert Jacob V

Hi Robert,
I just tried and it works on mine. My "enables" are systemx, control and patch. I did note that I had to reload a patch to see the effect of it being overwritten, and the Xpander gave me no visual feedback whatsoever of receiving the data. But despite the lack of feedback, it did work (overwrite stuff).
I was going to suggest you check the "memory protect" switch but if that is on while you send patches, you get a very clear error message on the Xpander itself so you would have noticed that already.
Cheers, Jacob

To Jacob V.
Jacob,
First, thank you for your help!? I really appreciate your time.
Secondly, Under ENABLES - is anything else "ON"?? Or does it matter?
Third:? What program are YOU using to send the Xpander files to your X??
You're correct.? There is no "visual" representation that the X has received or IS receiving the new files.? I've been using BOME and it shows that it is sending the sysex.? When complete, I've been scrolling through the Xpander patches to see if any new patches were sent..
I will try this again tomorrow.

For me, just the 3 things I listed in my previous email:? systemx, control and patch. I don't know which of them matter but I expect systemx to matter.
Third:? What program are YOU using to send the Xpander files to your X??
Sysex Librarian on macOS.
These programs usually have an option to pause between messages, because modern computers are so much faster than the CPU's in 80's synths. I'm using a 200ms pause. Don't know if it matters, haven't tried to find the shortest value that works.

Yes, scrolling through patches is also how I check it.

Hi Robert, Alternatively you can try the Xplorer software: This software can send bank of single patches or single patches files, but not multipatches files. Please check the user manual for the settings (see page 11/18): You will have to set the synthetizer type to "Xpander", and you can try by increasing the delay between messages if you get no results.
Best regards,

Jacob,
I GOT IT TO WORK.
Your info and correcting some errors on my side (yes - operator error), I was able to transfer files TO the Xpander! Feel like a kid again.
I recently purchased a new RME interface for my computer. Not being familiar with it, along with it's midi cable interface (very small print on the cables), I incorrectly sent MIDI Sysex to the wrong midi ins and outs. Once that was corrected, it all worked like a charm!
Thank you for your time and for all your help! Greatly Appreciated!
Robert

baumont987,
Thanks for the lead for the Xpander - Xplorer. The first link to the program itself evidently no longer exists. The second with the manual still does.
I've been searching the web to see if Xplorer could still be found, but no luck so far.
Anyone know where I can find this or has a copy to share? I'm on Windows 10.
Thx.
Robert
