Re: xpander dac
Hey Everyone, I have been helping folks fix their Xpanders / Matrix 12s for awhile here. I can tell you that by far the most failed component is electrolytic capacitors. A 2.2 uF @ 50V coupling

Re: xpander dac
Not really, but my gear is very under-used compared to most. One voice is a little squirrly (occasionally). Karl was nice enough to point me to which cap typically goes bad that causes my symptoms.

Re: xpander dac
These are the same DACs in the OB8- so this increases your chances of finding buyers. I've had my OB8 and Xpander for over 10 years and the DACs haven't failed yet.

Re: xpander dac
Hi Takis, These guys look like they have many of these parts in Hong Kong. If you can figure out how to get them to sell one (or a few) it should be cheaper than buying a junked xpander. - Karl

Microsoft Songsmith instrumented with Xpander
The only thing original in this song is the vocal track. Even though the track has an instrumental, Songsmith found a good arrangement. I then merged the general MIDI/piano track with the Xpander

Re: Lag/Tracking Generator tips?
Just as a follow up-I think the main reason I couldn't figure out the LG or the TG was that I was not treating them as "interpreters/manipulators" of the INPUT.. I was liberally using them as a mod

This is the sort of thing I had in mind for my Xpander Geek site (http://xpander.geek.nz). Unfortunately I haven't had much time to play with my Xpander, let alone work on the site. But if the amount

Re: Lag/Tracking Generator tips?
Thanks for your time (and energy!) to write this all down. Very helpful... And for me, really the kind of thing that could only be explained directly-experimenting only gets you so far sometimes!

I would love to hear some examples of this. Do you have anything you can post to demonstrate this or any other neat Xpander only type patches? Your knowledge of the machine seems very deep. Stephen

Re: Lag/Tracking Generator tips?
Hi ! Try to look at the "track generator" device as a tool to manipulate values of outputs of other devices you select as an input for the tracking generator. The input device can be nearly anything

Thanks-both those examples are helpful. I have read the manual, but alas, they only give one or two examples and despite reading again, I didn't really get the big picture regarding inputs vs.

Re: Lag/Tracking Generator tips?
The lag can be applied to every modulation destination, however the guys who made the Xpander chose to give you a "hardwire" option for the pitch of both oscillators (portamento) and the filter. Also,
