Xpander with Volta/Silent Way
sonictransmissions2002
Is anyone using their Xpander with the Volta or Silent way plugins? If so how do you find it? Are you able to get snappier basses using the plugin's envelopes?
My Xpander arrives on thursday and this will be one of the first things I try. Cheers Rick |

Re: Xpander is skipping a voice
Sorry for being so late.? I had the same issue with my Matrix-12.? In the end, I had to replace one of the CEM chips. In the M-12 they are socketed, so it was not too difficult to troubleshoot by swapping the chips between the bad voice and known working voices. The bad news is the the CEM chips are hard to find, but they do turn up from time to time. |

I remember seeing some pictures of the easter eggs many years ago on the internet, this was before the time i tracked my own M12 down.. So having the curious mind i decided to see if i could track down the methodology, with some deep searching i managed to find the sequence..think i originally found it on sum defunct text type forum site from years ago. Anyway sure no better place these days than Xpantastic to find out what you need to know about your beloved synth :) Dave. --- In xpantastic@..., "jleroux2010" <jleroux2010@...> wrote:

I am curious on how you found out that sequence to get the easter egg? Was this information coming from Oberheim (the company) or just by playing with the buttons? Thanks --- In xpantastic@..., "obermann12" <obermann12@...> wrote:

Re: Hi-res XPander images
Good idea ;-)
The only problem is I do not own an XPander myself. I'm just planning to create a new DIY synth project. The synth for this project will be one of : - Emulator II (but I can't find some PROMs) - Synthex (Maybe the 'simplest' to do) - XPander So, I need these pictures to validate the schematics and some components values. You know everything now. Christophe |

Hi-res XPander images
Hello,
I'm looking for very large pictures of the processor board and the voice board of an XPander. I found a lots of pictures on the web and in this group, but I need very detailled images of XPander's boards. I only need pictures on the components side, but solder side will be great too ;-) So If someone cand help me... Thank you, Christophe |

Just as?Karl Schmeer mentioned?
the CX49?is?a common?capacitor?that fails on every voice.

It also failed on my 6th voice but after replacing it, it was back to normal.
As I mentioned before it's a good idea to recap as much as you can inclusive?the power board caps.

From what I understand, the Xpander will turn the voice off if it fails tuning.? You can turn it back on in the master page if you need to. Unfortunately I believe you have a hardware problem.? The good news is, it's probably an electrolytic capacitor in the voice 3 circuit.? The usual suspect here is C549 a 2.2 uF 50 VDC electrolytic capacitor. BTW Given the vintage of these synths it's a good idea to recap the whole thing if possible. Best Luck Karl Schmeer From: steve_gruskin <steveg@...>? I've had my Xpander since 1985 and for the first time had a Voice Processor |
Xpander is skipping a voice
I've had my Xpander since 1985 and for the first time had a Voice Processor Error message. I re-set (start w/ Clear button) and now it sounds fine, but is skipping voice 3. Any thoughts? Should I do another re-set or is there another software cure for this? Thanks very much!

Hi
Seeing as easter egg time isn't too far away, here's a little trail for you to follow ..... This is how it is done on the M12, but should be the same process for the Xpander... 1) Press the MASTER PAGE button, 2) Press the PAGE 2 menu button, 3) Select VERSION, 4) Press and hold the STORE button, 5) Press the PAGE 2 menu button,(while holding STORE). 6) Abracadabra! - Easter Eggs! 7) Enjoy. Re: removing knobs
I always wondered why they went back to collet knobs after switching to push on types with the OB-Xa and OB-8... Actually my late model OB-X has push ons too.

You cant just pull them off cause they have a cap that you have to remove first (with a small knife etc)
