Re: Xpander voice failure
Hello Phillipe,
Look at the Bypass capacitors "Cx49" that each voice feeds into. It's toward the front of the board. C649 = Voice 2 C549 = Voice 3 It's a 2.2 uF. That I have seen fail from time to time. This will block signal from getting out of the voice. If you have an oscilloscope... 1) Turn all voices off but the one you are trying to fix, in the master page. 2) Turn the VCA2 All the way up so it is constantly playing. 3) Look at the signal on the + side of the cap. If you have a waveform signal then the voice is good. 4) Look on the other side of the capacitor, if there is no signal Replace The Cap. 5) If you have no signal on the + side of the cap try the output op- amp Ux16 a TLO81 Good Luck and let me know how it goes. Xpander voice failure
Hi everybody,
Can anyone help me ? I've got this voice problem with my Xpander: on voices 2 and 3, the 2nd VCO doesn't work, and it's NOT the 3374 nor the filters. I've changed them all. I'm starting to think that it must be some digital control over the analog voices that is failing. Is there someone who has had this kind of problem? I'll be grateful for any suggestion. Thanks to everybody, Philippe |

Re: battery change, when ?
Hi All,
Ok, Sorry I checked the Digi-Key Websites in Netherlands, Belguim,France, and spain to no avail. It seems the only place Digi- Key stocks these batteries is the US. Part Number P226-ND. I do not know anything about international shipping, but If you guys can help me on this matter I would be willing to aquire these batteries and ship them to you. I guess I could get a paypal account to deal with the costs. It also looks like there may be some ROHS issues "the batteries are made of Lithium". Re: battery change, when ?
Hey All,
Tell you what, You can buy brand new versions of this battery from a company called Digi-Key. They are on the web Digi-Key.com and have distribution in Europe, US, and I think Far East. I have done business with them for years and they usually have great service and stock. The only problem is the $25.00 min "US" order. What we should do is buy several. I would happily do this for the US guys. I would for Europe too, but I think shpping to Europe would make any savings on cost moot. I changed mine 1x in 20 years so that?s right. The 2nd battery is still working here since then, no leakage.

Sorry, taintlien. I now see you ar eonly looking for the screws, not
the end bells themselves. On Sun, Aug 17, 2008 at 5:49 PM, taintlien <project_sensorium@...> wrote: Can anyone point me in the right direction to an exact match for the |

Re: Looking for bank finish replacement screws for the end bells?
Someone on Analogue Heaven made replacement bells, but they were meant
to position the Xpander as if it were a desktop/rack mount unit. I dont have any info, but googling may help, or subscribing to Analog Heaven. That person may also have stock replacement end bells as well. I have never changed mine, And It is still working. I notice If you put it in storage and don't turn it on for sme time (6 months) some patches start to fade away. Or just become Init patches. I have not seen that brand of battery leak before. Usually a bunch of white crystals just form at one end. But I have seen many Korg Polysix's become almost un-repairable because of the battery leaking on the circuit board, and then the circuit traces disolve. Karl |
