Transverter?
Hi Bill We have always been able to use a Transverter with the X6100, Dave On Tue, 28 Nov 2023, 13:57 Bill, <sloper1@...> wrote: Now that we have the ability to use 2/440m on the radio with Oleg's firmware, can anyone recommend a transverter to use? |
Hi ,? I also have the?UR3LMZ Transverter, I got it from himAnd when I first used it at 5w the 50ohm used to reduce the power, failed on me, so I contacted him and he refunded me the cost of buying a replacement part, I fitted a new 50ohm and have not had a problem with it, I also fitted a heatsink for the final output FET as it was getting very hot and reducing the output power, This is now good, it also has vox tx switching that works well, and a TCXO, I did get it when I had a g90,? I have not used it with the x6100, yet but now I will, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB On Tue, 28 Nov 2023, 14:28 Oleg - R1CBU, <belousov.oleg@...> wrote: On Tue, Nov 28, 2023 at 04:57 PM, Bill wrote: |
Hi Oleg, What power output are you getting on 70cm, with your Transverter, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB On Tue, 28 Nov 2023, 15:14 davebb123456 via , <davidbrowne76=gmail.com@groups.io> wrote:

Hi Oleg Ok when you receive the Transverter fit a heatsink on to the back were the output FET is mounted to help keep the temperature down as it gets very hot and starts reducing power, Once I had done this I am now getting about 13w on 2m , and 3.5w on 70 cm, @ 13.8V ,this was measured with a bird 43, and a Marconi 2955, I also think I may fit tx switching input, the vox does work well but could do with a bit more delay,? Please let me know how you get on with it, Good luck, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB On Wed, 29 Nov 2023, 07:28 Oleg - R1CBU, <belousov.oleg@...> wrote: On Tue, Nov 28, 2023 at 11:08 PM, davebb123456 wrote: |
Dave and Oleg There is a detailed review of the transceiver at... It covers modifications that the reviewer thought were necessary It was written a couple of years ago so it is possible that some of the suggested mods have since been incorporated by the manufacturer On Wed, 29 Nov 2023, 10:27 am davebb123456, <davidbrowne76@...> wrote:

Hi John Thanks yes I did see that, he did a great review, I may well sell mine as I have got 2 yaesu ft 817 for doing sat work,? And as the X6100 is not good on FM, at the moment, The yaesu ft817 is great and it also has ctcss coding, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB On Wed, 29 Nov 2023, 11:08 John Claridge 2E0JJC, <2e0jjc@...> wrote:

Dave, the eHam reviewer recommended a new custom aluminum back plate in addition to the added heat sinks (he advised internal and external, alas). I think the custom backplate is beyond my capabilities. Were you able to do all of that, or did you do some subset? Did you buy a heat sink from Amazon, someplace else, or did you use one you already had on hand?
Thanks, Randy K7RAN? |
Hi Randy I had a bit of heatsink laying around, it is only small but it has helped a lot, The hole Transverter is heating up so it is conducting ok, when I got it, the 50ohm 50W did fail straight after, so it might have been badly made from the start, I fitted a new one and it has been fine, I now have a thermal camera so I could have another look, but seems good now, Dave On Thu, 30 Nov 2023, 13:26 Randy K7RAN, <k7ran@...> wrote: Dave, the eHam reviewer recommended a new custom aluminum back plate in addition to the added heat sinks (he advised internal and external, alas).
