Cannot connect to WiFi with a space in the password #bugs

There seems to be a bug in the X6100 that prevents you from connecting to the WiFi if you have a space in the password.?

I managed to solve this by connecting the radio via serial to my laptop and running nmtui to enter the details of my network.

In short, what I did was connect the radio to my laptop (macbook) via USB. Then I ran screen to connect to the radio (the settings were a bit of trial and error):
$ sudo screen /dev/cu.usbmodem535C0063101 115200,cs8,cstopb,parenb,parodd

Log in using the username "root", password "123".?

On the command line of the X6100 run:
# export TERM=xterm
# nmtui

You get a nice old-skool terminal menu program that lets you edit the connections. Here you can enter the details of your network and connect.

I also wrote a more detailed post on my website:?

Probably the same bug that won't allow you to access a SSID with a space in it.? I found that a few months ago and had to do the same thing with nmtui.

I spent a half day trying to connect to SSID "AAA BBB".? Then I tried another router named, "CCC_DDD". It worked just fine.?
?
The X6100 successfully found the SSID and copied it into the SSID field when I hit the Configure button. But it won't use it to join the local LAN.
?
This reminds me of the first true UNIX guru I knew.? His password included a backspace.? Yes, it was legal.?
?
When is the next Xiegu release expected?? I cannot change my SSID.? Nor can I yet connect with USB.

I've pointed this out many times on FB but maybe not here.? I would not hold your breath for a next release.

I wonder if the password is saved as text and one may be able to find and edit the file manually.? A pain for sure but may have a solution faster than waiting for an update that may never come.

It's under /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ on the rootfs (ext4). This partition of SD card is invisible under Windows.

If you can't change you SSID - and I understand why, perhaps you can add an inexpensive AP or configure an old router as an AP with an SSID it can work with.
