3D printed MIC

Hi,
?
As an experiment,?I made a printed circuit board for a simplified (PTT-only) microphone and also a 3D-printed case for it.
I built a few and they work although I have to turn the mic gain up a bit.
This is probably related to the electret mic element that I used.

The files to build this mic can be found here:
?
Also I have a few extra circuit boards
If anyone wants to try building one, please contact me by private message.

Hi,
?
If you'd like to buy a mic from me, you can send me a private message
or search for "PTT-Only Microphone for Xiegu X6100" on eBay.

Very cool Scott. Well done.?

Can I ask why you were drawn to experiment with a different mic??

PS: Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Great job on the project! Using that and a cat5 cable would make the radio much more compact for travel or climbing a summit.

I can’t tell from the photo how much smaller this mic is than the stock mic. Can someone post a photo (or at least the comparative dimensions)?

The 3D mic is lighter and packs up much smaller.

Hi,
?
I have made a new version of my mic design project.
The new version uses a MEMS (rather than electret) microphone element.
?
The design files for the circuit board are online here:

Overall I am happy with this new mic design.
I think it sounds better than the original X6100 mic and it is even smaller and lighter than my previous (electret) mic design.
