Color modified v0.29.2 x6100_gui and sdcard.img

I originally posted about this in the buildroot 2024.11 thread, but figured it'd soon get buried as new versions of buildroot come to light. Anyway, i wasn't a fan of some of the default colors. Was hard on my eyes at times. This is not part of upstream, or official. It's just my personal build that i built using Franco's 2024.11 buildroot that i'm sharing in case others want to give it a try. This is my 3rd and last color revision. There won't be any more changes as I'm happy with it now. If upstream wants to merge my color changes they are welcome to it. Otherwise i will continue to build with these color changes when new versions of the firmware are released.

Great stuff. It's my go to. Thanks! One question though, is there a difference between 29.2 and 2025.02? Getting a bit confused by all the FW variations.

- buildroot is the base Linux distribution (i.e. linux kernel, u-boot bootloader, plus a ton of other programs and utilities) that these SD card images use. buildroot is currently at version 2025.02 ()
- x6100-gui is the application written by Oleg and Georgy (and modified by wicknix to use different colors) as the user interface with the X6100; this is the application that displays the controls, the frequency, the waterfall, etc and that you interact with when you use your X6100. x6100-gui is currently at version 0.29.2 ()

Ok, since buildroot 2025.02 is now available (thanks Franco!), i rebuilt my sdcard.img again using that. In this version i also added Midnight Commander. This makes ssh sessions tons easier. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a text mode dual pane file manager and editor. Once you ssh in to your x6100 just type mc to launch it. More info and documentation on it is found . Download updated sdcard.img .

Wouldn't load at first. Downloaded latest Balena and imaged with no problem. ( Outdated Balena)? Anyway, can't wait for the bands to get better to really try it out. From what I see on the waterfall, it'll really look nice. Thanks for your work on updating the colors. 73!

I think it might come down to SD card brands? I find my sandisk branded cards at times need to be written to twice to actually work. Random other misc brand cards work the first time. Anyway, thanks, and hope you enjoy the changes. :)

...looks nice so far !
Please could You make the color for the frequency-marker in CW in a very contrasting color ... ?
Thanks / 73 , Jens

I can try. I'll keep poking around the source code and see if i can spot it. No promises though.

I guess you looking for this line:

BTW, it will be great if you would be able to create a configurable parameter for such color changes. At least - define 2-3 colors for spectrum/s-meter and add corresponding settings to settings app. Maybe you also will create pull request)

If it's not possible - I'll return to it within a month, I hope. Right now I want to finish porting this app to the X6200.
Anyway - thanks for your efforts!

In the firmware for TRX Brass I enabled the console directly on /dev/fb and with the help of a USB keyboard, SSH is not needed (;
73!

Pulled the new build - works great - thanks again wicknix!

Hi Georgy. Unfortunately that is not it apparently. I had already changed that to bright red. I thought the same thing. I don't use CW so i'm not exactly sure what marker he means. If it's the marker line in the spectrum the top half of the marker just stays whatever color the spectrum is as far as i can tell. In this case that's green. Bottom half is red.

I like your idea of being able to change colors from a few presets, however that's above my coding knowledge. Anyway, good luck with the x6200 project!
?
Edit: I will gladly make a pull request for my changes if you'd like me to.

Where are screenshots stored? Looked all over using MC (thanks!) and can't find a folder with the shots. I assume it's in usr somewhere ...

Look in /mnt
?
Or use your web browser to connect to your x6100's I.P. address. There is an included web server running that lets you configure bands, timezone, browse files, etc.
?

I mean the CW SPECTRUM-SCOPE marker. (not waterfall !)

Very nice. Didn't know you had a web server running. I've been ssh'ing it. Anyway, your new build has what I consider a slight problem - others may prefer it.

Notice how the freq is larger than the bar in the newest build. I prefer the freq as shown in the first pic. Anything I can do about it?
Thx

The frequency value magnification can be switched off in the settings

As mentioned, you can disable magnification in settings. The switch you want to turn off is shown below.

Thanks. My coding knowledge of C/C++ was a bit above 0, when I bought X6100 one year ago )).

Regarding CW freq marker on the scope - I guess, Jens mean filter marker. It's color defined . You can replace bg_color with any color value, like . Also, might be helpful to change blend mode using
rect_dsc.blend_mode = LV_BLEND_MODE_ADDITIVE
or another .
