Fixing Heat Issues-A better Way?
I saw that someone had posted a response to the heating problem with the X6100.? I have tried the buck booster method (lowering the voltage), heat sinks on the back of the radio, and even 3D printed an accessory that mounts on the back of the radio to supply constant air on the back.? While all these solutions do work to a degree, I'm trying to find the person that posted what I think might be a better solution.? I meant to reply back to the post, but life got in the way, and now I'm trying to locate who that was so I can get a more detailed description on the fix.? I think it had something to do with the way the final was mounted inside the radio???

Thank you for the informative post.? I think I found another answer that has to do with the way the final is fastened on the board.? I haven't totally read the entire article yet.? I think it requires the rf transistor to be bolted to the board??? On Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 11:14?AM Robert PA1RL via <rlnhm.lambregts=gmail.com@groups.io> wrote:

What a great link! Thank you for posting it here.

I originally assumed the back was a heat-sink, but then saw tear-down pictures that showed it’s only a cover, at best operating as a heat-sink for the battery. There are a lot of reasons to keep the battery cool and, like a cellphone battery, it will get hot under high load, or when charging. Being inside a hot case is not helping. Unfortunately, it looks like there’s nothing between the battery and the back to make a decent thermal connection. |
开云体育although it is only a cover with the battery taped to the inside, it is where most of the heat radiates from, plus in my mind one of the biggest killers of liPo batteries is heat so the heatsinks on the back help keep the battery cooler so hopefully extends the life of the battery i was looking at 3d printing a small 5mm spacer with vents for
between the back plate and main case, to release the heat from
inside so it don't build up Peter M0PWX On Sun, 09, 02, 2025 00:31, Mr Wintle

开云体育I removed the back and battery and did a printed 2 piece back with a low volume/quiet fan.? For battery I use a LifPo when out portable. Gregg W9DHI On 2/9/2025 8:56 AM, Peter M0PWX via
