Re: Current version download issue
You should connect external power supply to upgrade BASE. §é§ä, 10 §à§Ü§ä. 2024 §Ô., 14:52 Papi via <papiflaps=[email protected]>:

Current version download issue
I recently downloaded, from the Radioodditty site, Versions: App 1.1.9 and Base 1.1.8.. Everything seemed to go fine but I ended up with A= 1.1.9 SEP 14 (upgraded) and B= 1.1.7 SEP 4 (which was already installed). What may have happened? How to upgrade just base to 1.1.8. Thanks for suggestions!
I should add: When performing the BASE upgrade, (proper version is displayed) the unit shuts down immediately after pressing the UPGRADE button and no BASE upgrade is performed. All else appears fine. |
Re: Using R1CBU FT4/8 Instructions
Right now FT4/8 messages can't be changed. Might be it will be in one of the future releases.
Firmware has a NTP client, it update time on establishing network connection. I'm working on wifi support - it will be possible to sync time with connecting to wifi network. Regarding instructions - it's a bit outdated, but you can check this - Perhaps you, or someone else will create/update instruction for this FW. I can check and publish it on GitHub, also answer any questions about firmware. Or, maybe later, when I will have more time - I'll start to working on instructions. 73. Georgy // R2RFE |
Using R1CBU FT4/8 Instructions
Using the "on-board" FT4/8 functions works for making basic contacts, I like that. Is there a way to edit messages, create a custom CQ message, etc.??
I'd really love to see a more "in-depth" user guide for the R1CBU software, other than just the brief description of buttons, etc. For example - other than connecting a GPS Rx Dongle to the radio, how does one accurately set the time - zero the seconds, etc. The functionality of the software is fantastic, but learning by trial and error concerns me, I know we're not likely to "brick" the radio from these menus, but having a better understanding of the controls would be helpful. I realize there's somewhat of a language barrier to overcome to create the manual in English, but I'm a stupid Amerikanski, and unfortunately I don't read Russian or Chinese, for that matter. I'm sure some careful planning and logic went into this development, I'd just like to understand it better. ?

New radio issue
Hello all.? I just purchased a new x6100 from Amazon.? I really want to like this radio, but I have had some difficulties with some of the hardware buttons.? Can anyone tell me if these functions are customizable or if this is defective hardware?
?
1) MFK knob: when I press the MFK knob, it cycles through volume, squelch, and RF gain.? This is the same function as pressing the volume knob.
?
2) Pressing the lock button (single press, not a long-press), it acts like I'm pressing the 4th button on the bottom row.? So, on the main menu, if I press the lock button it will go to System Settings.? If I am in any menu, it will assign the selected value to the MFK knob.??
?
I didn't want to send it back, but if this isn't a software selection, the device must be defective. |
Re: Volume knob not working
Add me to the list who have had this knob develop the slippage issues... I put a dab of hot glue and reseated the knob and it worked fine for a few more months, before it came unglued again. I now just run it with the bare stem, which is still entirely functional.
?
I have the knob sitting in my coax adapter baggie for someday when I get inspired to "fix" it properly :-D?

Re: Volume knob not working
I had issue with the X6100 select knob.? It was slipping.? The knob was just around fitting of the shaft and I had thought it was bad.? I just added some glue to the knob and inserted on to the shaft and all worked fine.

Same problem.? The plastic knob had slid toward the radio body so much that the in-out function of the knob did not work.? I'm going to put something inside the plastic knob that keeps it from sliding in again.

Re: No power output
Since no power output on other modes sounds like blown PA.? The fT817/8 are not so forgiving in the PA.? I am on my 3rd PA in my 2004 FT817. If you wish to order a PA board, about $60, from Yaesu might hurry since the rig has been discontinued. 73, ron, n9ee

Many thanks for your help, I will take the transceiver to a technician now and whenever its ready I will come back to let everyone else now if that was the only reason and if it got fixed.

Re: Patched BASE firmware with changed TX audio filter low cutoff frequency
#firmware
Bytes sequences might be different (for example 1.1.6? - 0x4ff49672, 1.1.7 - 0x4ff49673). As far as I remember - 1.1.6 and 1.1.7 uses different MCU registers to load value. Not sure - may be it related with another compiler version or something like this. I have no ideas how to create a patch script, which will handle such situations. Georgy. |
Re: Patched BASE firmware with changed TX audio filter low cutoff frequency

Thanks Georgy.
Actually my intent was to create a 'generic' script that in theory could be applied to any new Xiegu X6100 baseband firmware without any constraints on the checksum or the actual offsets of those changes.
My idea is that as we get more familiar with the X6100 baseband firmware, we could have a set of patches conceptually similar to your original one that could be applied to overwrite parts of the BB firmware to improve it.

Re: No power output
X6100 have a weak output transformer - I heard about a case, when using FT8 with high output power burnt it out (with a condenser) - (it's on Russian, but you can use auto translated cc). Another variant - if you used ATU - you can try to switch to any DIGI mode and press PTT for a second. 73, Georgy // R2RFE |

Re: Patched BASE firmware with changed TX audio filter low cutoff frequency

Thanks Franko. I created a bit more strict script for patching, while I apply changes to 1.1.8. It checks md5 of source before patching, uses predefined offsets for changes and checks, that content on each chunk is equal to expected original value. X6100_BBFW_V1.1.6_221112001_patch_160.csv
