Xephem installation on Ubuntu 20.02

Hello,
following this instruction
two issues need to be resolved

- Compiler issue:

??? there are some errors because of '"' signs in the GUI/xephem/versionmenu.c file under the copyright section after static char *msg[] = {....

??? Change the '"' to '\"'

- "can not find classicfigs.csf" error

???? do a link from? /home/youruserid/auxil to /usr/local/xephem/auxil/

Cheers
AG

The double quotes worked their way into the 4.0.0 source code when the copyright message was changed to the MIT License ¡ª try either compiling the old 3.7.7 source, or else using the patched 4.0.0 sources you¡¯ll find at the community¡¯s copy of the source tree on GitHub:

(You can avoid having to use git to fetch the source by clicking the green ¡°Code¡± button then select ¡°Download ZIP¡±.)

I¡¯m less familiar with the problem of XEphem having trouble finding the ¡°auxil¡± directory, but you might contact the Jay's Cafe folks directly about getting their instructions updated (I¡¯ve not, myself, heard of that site before).

I have posted version 4.0.1 on my ?with the versionmenu.c errors corrected. This will be my last update, please use the github?repository?for all newer versions.

Kind regards,

Elwood
