How do I change the minor planet centre's address in the download link now that the MPC has changed to https:// prefix?

Change the line 81 of the perl script mpcorb2edb.pl which comes with
XEphem, replace http with https.

Have tried that but still get the Xephem alert "URL must begin with http:" when I try to update the files.

The perl script is only for downloading the large dataset from MPC.

Meanwhile I've worked out a complete patch for this issue which allows
http or https urls for the individual files and sent it to CSI.
Hopefully it will published there.

Thanks Lutz ... but, is the patch to be applied to Elwood last official released code ?

...? by patching first with your Soho OCT-2016 one,? and then, patching the last one ?
