I think this has been broken for quite a while.
Is there something that I need to do on the user side to fix this?

Hi, Karl.

I'm pretty sure that you only need to recompile the software with the OpenSSL patch. Grab the latest 3.7.7 source and then visit the "User contrib" to download the Open SSL patch from Lutz M?ndle. If there's more that needs to be done, I can't recall.

Karl,

Following up, you can apply the patch by following Doug's directions here:

/g/xephem/message/3561

It's also worth noting that there is a new patch in the User contrib folder that enables weather to be displayed in the Earth view again. I think I might give that a whirl, too.

Finally, if you're running macOS/OS X there is the possibility that your OS no longer has the requisite OpenSSL header files. If that's the case, you'll need to download OpenSSL source that supports > TLS 1.0 and compile that so the Open SSL patch will work correctly with the SOHO site.
