New Xepehm user

Hi everybody

I am a french amateur astronomer and I try to use the Linux platform (Ubuntu 11.10) for all my astronomy work.

I have installed Xephem and It runs. But it seems access path to images, data, etc is not correct. Xephem tries to find out images by example in /home/robert/auxil, but the right path is /home/robert/xephem/auxil.

Could someone tell me where I can change this path ?

Thanks.

The INSTALL file explains to create ~/.xephem/XEphem with the path to the sharedirectory, in your case /home/robert/xephem. ?Take a look at the INSTALL file.

In Linux you can probably make a soft link to point the actual directory to the desired one.

ln -s?/home/robert/xephem/auxil?/home/robert/auxil

That is: ln -s actual-directory desired-directory

Hi Larry,

I think that it is much more better to follow the Install file fully and
copy all described stuff in /usr/local/xephem/ directory ? ....

then you create the? $HOME/.xephem/XEphem? file
which must contain the declaration line :

XEphem.ShareDir: /usr/local/xephem

So, no more problems !! ;-)

Best regards,
Serge.
