get rid of ISS-912

Ok, here's something that's been buggin' me .. I know the answer once
was on Elwood's site in one of the FAQs, but I can't find there any
more.

How can I get rid of the ISS-912 entry that keeps showing up in my
view Data Table (and other places)? I don't know how it got there, but
I really would like to get rid of it.

Anyone? I'm sure it's a simple thing - if it's too silly of a question
just tell me to go away :-)

Thanks,
Esmail
PS: I'm running v3.4 under Linux happily

For more information on where Cassini is see:

Yes, I've found these useful resources shortly after posting my message.

Thanks for the info,

I used the telnet facility to get the information, then wrote a quick

XEphem and Windows

For what it is worth I have a Linux machine (RH 7.1) on which I have
built the XEphem executable. I use the program on the Linux box and
all is working well. I also have a windows (W2000) machine. I am
running XWin32 on my windows box and can run XEphem on my windows box
via X. I don't have to mangle anything to get it to build on windows
as it is running on the Linux box (where it ought to be running...).
Another cool thing is anyone on the network can run it via X on
whatever box they may have, as long as it has XWindows available.

It even runs fairly fast under X on windows, no less. It is noticably
quicker on the Linux box. I haven't run the windows executable
natively. Don't really need to.

Like I said, for what it is worth.

To say it another way: whether the glass is active depends /only/ on
the toolbar button.

I think it is better to do this way.

1) When both Magnifying Glass (MG) in Image Tools AND MG in toolbar button
are OFF, definitely MG functions will be ON.

2) If EITHER buttons are pushed (ON) then MG functions are ON.

3) When MG function is ON, and MG in Image Tools is OFF then MG functions still
can be ON.

4) If MG in toolbar button is OFF then MG functions are OFF and toggle the
MG button in Image Tools to be OFF.

I think the this flow should be more effective, especially for step 2)
which is missing in Xephem. In short, the MG only active when both button
(from toolbar and Image tools) are ON, but once MG is active, it can only
be deactivate by using button at toolbars. This also enhance the
consistancy of the interface which, all buttons in Image Tools can activate
all related functions.

I hope this might be useful to enhance this software. If there any patches
for above, please tell me/us.

Mohammad Bahathir Hashim

Hello.

I cannot activate magnifying glass only when I select/click to
Magnifying Glass from Sky View - Images - Magnifying Glass, but I use
the magnifying glass when I click on "Enable magnifiying glass" button
in the Sky View window. I think the problem is, "Sky View - Images -

I have put the screenshot in Photos/screenshot directory.

I hope this might be useful.

I suppose that rules it out for inclusion in FAQs (being a UFAQ) but to
have the info somewhere accessible would be useful ;-)

No, but to be honest I don't know how to fix it. Every Motif program
I've ever written behaves this way and I've never dug deeply enough to
find out why. It's not in the FAQ though because you are the first
ever to ask!

Re: printing in jupiter/saturn view mode?

Hi Elwood,

Here's a quicky: In v3.4, when I go to view Jupiter and its moons
(or Saturn for that matter), can I print out the graph that
Xephem shows me?
<..>
It would be nice to have a picture to take to the scope to id
the many moons of Saturn.
Not possible, sorry. I really should add that though. For now, you
might try printing a screen capture using, say, xv.
Thanks for the message, I wasn't sure if I had missed something in the
instructions.

Until recently I didn't really have a scope that would show more than
Titan with Saturn, but now that I can see a bit more it would be nice
to know what's what.

Boy... did I get that wrong...

It turns out that if I have numlock turned on then ROI and live dragging
don't work.

It had nothing to do with the old ~/XEphem/XEphem file (the old one
works fine)

Is this a feature?

OK... I got it sorted out.

The ROI and live dragging problems were due to an old XEphem
configuration file (~/XEphem/XEphem).

I tried removing it but xephem wouldn't start due to invalid default
font sizes in fallbacks.c

I changed the relevant defaults to 11pt instead of 12pt in fallbacks.c
and recompiled. Hey presto... everything works loverly :-)

BTW... my system is RH7.1 Gnome1.4 Sawfish.

I have upgraded from 3.4 through 3.5
