Er, I'm not seeing the Syntor X / Xcat stuff?

Hi Guys,

Posts require my approval to prevent spam. However I usually change
the user's profile to allow free postings after the first approved
post to prevent delays. In this case although there weren't any
Syntors listed the rest of the stuff seemed like it would be of
reasonable interest to the group so I approved it.

If the group doesn't want to see offers of ham related equipment which
isn't specifically related to Syntors I won't approve such messages in
the future.

I must say that the estate sale subject also touched my heart since my
close friends WB6YMI, WB6CYT, N6HAE, and K6ENS have all passed over
the past few years.

The message in question is very close to if not
identical to a spam message sent to many lists.

This may not be the person he purports to be.

I own two Io/Groups , one for support of ICOM IC-R9000 the other ICOM IC-970.

In the past couple of months I have gotten two similar "for sale" ads , one identical to the above and one prior that was a very similar structured list (different gear) and also from a "5 area" ham and both with phone numbers that did not comport to their FCC license location. I blocked? both ads because the equipment did not pertain to the group focus .

The first individual I banned because there was suspicious activity with multiple changes of user ID prior to the posting. I have not banned "Gary" (yet) because I don't know if he is phony. I thought he was phony due to the IP address, but I need to check further in that regard.

The fact that in my case, "gary" had posted nothing prior to the advert raises suspicion. I have added a caveat emptor disclaimer to my sites on purchasing from folks using my sites.

Since almost everything in the list is > $1000 I would think caveat
emptor would be obvious.

Now that I think about it, a list where almost everything is >$1000 is
suspicious in itself.

Enough said, I won't approve further for sale posts until it's clearly
something **THIS** group would be interested in.

... or simply mark up the price of your Xcat devices to $1000.00 each.
