Howdy,

I'm pretty happy with my Cisco to BBS connection now, feel free to try it out at 51010000. TuxedoCat Lounge BBS, running Wildcat! 4.20 for DOS (under Win 7). I only have a single serial connection from the Cisco to the PC right now so only one person at a time can be connected via x.25. The board should be up 24/7, free registration, supports usual ANSI or plain-text, also available via dial-up and telnet access too.

Looks like I need to get another version of IOS to support x25 translate and/or wait on getting a new Cisco card in to support more people.

Hi Phil,

I've just given your BBS a quick spin using xotpad from my Mac and everything worked fine. The choice of color is a little hard to read when using a terminal with a white background, but I guess I should use dark mode for BBSes anyway.

Greetings all,

I mentioned some months ago about an old ISA card (“PC XNET��) that implemented an x.25 PAD and had a DOS API.

I have finally found an example of the PC XNET in France and had it shipped here. It appears to work and I am now testing an old DOS BBS Software (“The Major BBS��) that had support for the PC XNET.

The host is accessible intermittently at NUA 303001. There may be some double echo problems - please let me know if you come across that. The software is mostly a bone stock install, so not much to see. I’ll work on that in the coming weeks, and once I’m confident of the configuration, I will list the NUA in the google doc.

Hi all,

I'm brand new to this whole project and X.25, looking forward to learning things. I run a dial-up/telnet BBS (TuxedoCat Lounge) and have managed to set up a Cisco 2821 router, connected it via the aux port, and set up a XOT rotary to get to it the board.

I've added an AAA number, can I please get this added to DNS?

I think that EUGENE is just not sending its own DTE address when making outgoing calls - That is what I can see in the X25 call log. I'm not sure how I can configure the outgoing address, though. Some NCP magic is likely required.

I can set the local DTE address successfully like so: set ho/x29 23000300/local_dte=23000200

Anyway, not all that important, it'd just be nicer if outbound calls would not be anonymous.

Now to your EUGENE machine...

the result is

and back to my machine (now logging in as guest)...

giving me

Are you not sending the respective data?
Did you ever saw your address on other X29 terminal connections?

Will check in more depth (protocol analyser) the telegrams send and received during initiation of the communication.

It seems that the connection is first attempted using IPv6 and if that eventually fails, with IPv4. Maybe it would make sense to not have an IPv6 address associated with the DNS name that is used in the TELEBAHN mapping:

bitmint.dnshome.de has IPv6 address 2001:4dd0:af15:dfcd:5e49:79ff:fe37:bcc8

bitmint.dnshome.de has address 87.78.134.96

that is one of the points still under investigation...
still not solved, is also the PSI_MAIL (PSI%xxxx::username) and the missing accessibility the the CISCO.

Hi Bernhard,

thank you for setting up your VAX 4000/100A - I could log in successfully, and I was also able to make outbound X.29 calls. By any chance, do you know how you set the DTE address of your machine in VAX P.S.I.? When I make outbound calls from my machine, the calling DTE address is empty, which is annoying. Calls from your machine are made with the right calling address.

I think I did it.

Currently working from Eugene on V10031 via x.25... looks good so far.

On my side you should find a CISCO 1721 Router connected to the VAX 4000-100A.

My Cisco1760 at 471041 is always online, although has nothing interesting to offer (other than telnet/tracert to dn42, or PAD to two more identical routers...)
