REVOLUTION GOES TO CRYPTO.COM ARENA IN LOS ANGELES- AEW is gambling big and has booked the massive Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California to host their Revolution 2025 pay-per-view on March 9. The announcement came yesterday along with several new dates which were published taking AEW television up until March. This will be the first time that AEW will hold a show in downtown Los Angeles and with talks of the company moving to smaller venues next year, this arena is one of the largest and holds 20,000 fans. While AEW pay-per-views do have a higher turnout, attendance at such shows has also decreased. This week's Full Gear has just over 7,500 tickets distributed at the Prudential Center in Newark, a location which also holds over 18,000. COLLISION RATING- Collision last Saturday on TNT drew 356,000 viewers, up 24,000 from last week's broadcast and their best number since September 28. The show had a 0.11 rating in 18-49, up 0.01 from last week and was #11 on the top 50 cable chart for the night. (Ratings credit: Programming Insider) INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CUP LAUNCHED FOR WRESTLE DYNASTY- New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced the International Women's Cup for Wrestle Dynasty, a tournament featuring the best of Stardom, AEW, ROH, and CMLL competing against each other with the final to be held at the Tokyo Dome on January 5, 2025. Each of the four promotions will have their own qualifying four-way matches over the next several weeks, with the winner of each match advancing to represent their own promotion at Wrestle Dynasty. The winner of the final four-way match on the pay-per-view will then receive a championship opportunity in any of the four participating promotions of their choosing. RIDGE HOLLAND GETS NXT TITLE SHOT, ENDS CHASE U- Ridge Holland earned an NXT title match at the upcoming Deadline premium live event after he defeated Andre Chase in the main event of NXT last night on CW. Chase lost more than just the title opportunity though as part of the stipulation was that if he were to lose, then Chase U would come to an end. The ending of the show saw Holland smiling with Chase, Thea Hail, Duke Hudson and Riley Osborne all laid out, with Chase almost breaking down. Most fans at ringside, all wearing Chase U merchandise, stood in silence after the pinfall count, knowing that Chase U was now no longer. "And I guess that’s the TEACHABLE MOMENT," Chase wrote on X later, tagging all members of Chase U. "You guys never needed me. I was the one who always needed y’all. Thank you for everything. I wouldn’t be here without you." Holland will now face champion Trick Williams at Deadline next month. THREE MORE ADDED TO IRON SURVIVOR CHALLENGE- Three NXT stars advanced to the Iron Survivor Challenge last night on NXT after three separate qualifying matches were held. Nathan Frazier was the first one to qualify on the night, defeating Eddy Thorpe to advance to Deadline. He now joins Wes Lee and Je'Von Evans, with two more spots available. Meanwhile, Stephanie Vaquer defeated Jaida Parker after Lola Vice offered some distraction and Zaria powered through Wren Sinclair in the second women's qualifier to advance. They join Sol Ruca who qualified last week and just like the men's match, two more spots are available. RAW RATING- The taped Raw episode this week drew 1,516,000 viewers on USA Network, down 48,000 viewers from last week's show as it faced a simulcast of NFL on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN 2. The first hour started with 1,502,000 viewers and then increased to 1,530,000 viewers in the second hour. The NFL game between the Texans and the Cowboys drew a combined audience of 16.8 million viewers. Raw was #3 on the top 50 cable chart for the night with a 0.49 rating, up 0.05 from the prior week and beat everything else which was not NFL related. (Ratings credit: Programming Insider) LINDA MCMAHON SEPARATES FROM VINCE MCMAHON- A Washington Post story has covered Linda McMahon's appointment as Secretary of Education by President-elect Donald Trump, with the first public confirmation that Linda has separated from former WWE and TKO Chairman Vince McMahon. The story covers several negative reactions of her appointment, citing lack of experience in the education sector and the National Education Association, which is the largest teachers union in the United States, has asked for the Senate to reject the confirmation. “By selecting Linda McMahon, Donald Trump is showing that he could not care less about our students’ futures,” said NEA President Becky Pringle. The Washington Post also mentions the recent lawsuit filed by five anonymous plaintiffs who are known as "Ring Boys" against Vince, Linda, and WWE. Laura Brevetti, Linda McMahon’s attorney, said the McMahons are separated and called the lawsuit "baseless." While the two have not lived together for years, no one publicly came out to actually say that they are separated and this was the first on the record comment that confirms one of the world's worst kept secrets. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |
