His passing comes just two months after his brother Sika, father of WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, passed away at age 79. The news was announced by his son, Samu. "It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of my father Afa Anoai Sr. It was a peaceful transition and he was surrounded by loved ones. Please respect our privacy as we morn our father," he wrote. Afa had been dealing with several health issues lately, including two heart attacks. He also underwent several surgeries after falling earlier this year. Afa started his wrestling career in 1971 and was trained by his cousin Rocky Johnson and uncle Peter Maivia. He teamed up with his brother and started terrorizing promotions such as Stampede Wrestling, the NWA, and others, before moving to the WWF in 1979. He and Sika had two stints with the WWF and returned alone in 1992 as the manager of The Headshrinkers. He had his final match for WWF in 1994. He also managed Samu and Sione, the man formerly known as The Barbarian. After his departure from national television, Afa started the Wild Samoans Training Center where he trained several people along the way and ran his wrestling promotion World Xtreme Wrestling. Afa, a former three-time WWF tag team champion, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 along with his brother. He last appeared on WWE television at the Hell In A Cell premium live event in 2020 to celebrate Roman Reigns' victory. BOBBY LASHLEY GONE FROM WWE- Bobby Lashley has been removed from the active WWE.COM bio page and moved to the alumni section, with the former WWE champion now officially gone from the company. Lashley's contract with WWE expired last weekend and he opted not to sign a new one. Since his deal expired, there are no no-compete clauses and he can appear anywhere at any time. The former champion has not wrestled since the May 5 non-televised live event in France, beating Santos Escobar. His last televised appearance was on April 12 of this year, in a triple threat match against LA Knight and Santos Escobar. The 48-year-old Lashley has been with the company since 2018 and is a former two-time WWE champion, two-time Intercontinental champion, three-time United States champion and two-time ECW champion. MVP DEPARTS WWE- MVP has also departed WWE and his profile has been moved to the alumni section on WWE.COM. The 50-year-old has been with the company since 2020 and was on his second stint with WWE, returning at the Royal Rumble that year and then sticking around when The Hurt Business banded together. After The Hurt Business was abandoned by WWE, MVP moved to managed Omos but despite the potential, the pairing never really took off. MVP last appeared on WWE television when he accompanied Omos to the Andre The Giant battle royal on the eve of WrestleMania XL. While in a recent interview MVP said that his latest run was quite the ride, his departure wasn't a quiet one, accusing WWE of being racist and showed no love lost for Paul "Triple H" Levesque. STEVE AUSTIN SAYS WRESTLEMANIA XL APPEARANCE WAS CLOSE- In an interview with Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, WWE Hall o Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed that an appearance at WrestleMania 40 was close to being made, but eventually it did not work out. Austin was penned to be part of the main event where he had to confront The Rock, but that spot eventually went to The Undertaker when the deal fell through. Asked how close it was for WrestleMania 40, The Rattlesnake said, "Oh, it was close. And they certainly reached out to me and we had conversations, but my wife and I had some things going on that I didn¡¯t need to go to Philly at that time." Austin said that while he couldn't make it to that one, WrestleMania 41 will be in Nevada, in the state where he currently lives and he hopes to be there for it. He previously said in an interview that he doesn't want to travel outside the state but Las Vegas is in Nevada and only 400 miles away. "But anyway, it¡¯ll be in Vegas...so I hope to be there this year!" IRON MAN MATCH SET FOR TNA EMERGENCE- The TNA World title will be defended in a one-hour iron man match at the upcoming Emergence special event on TNA+. The match will see champ Nic Nemeth defend his gold against former champion Josh Alexander and it was announced following last night's Impact where the two went to a 30-minute time-limit draw. Nemeth has been champion since July's Slammiversary pay-per-view while Alexander hasn't held the title since March of last year when he had to vacate the title due to a torn triceps. Emergence will air on Friday, August 30 from the Old Forester's Paristown Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. RILEY OSBORNE QUALIFIES FOR ULTIMATE X MATCH- NXT will be represented at the Emergence TNA show later this month as Riley Osborne qualified for the Ultimate X match yesterday. The Chase U member defeated Chris Bey and John Skyler in the qualifier which opened Impact last night. Jason Hotch also qualified for the same match when he beat Ace Austin and Rich Swann. Osborne and Hatch now join Zachary Wentz and Mike Bailey in the match, with two more open spots available. Those spots will be decided on next week's show with two matches featuring Frankie Kazarian vs Kushida vs Hammerstone and Laredo Kid vs Bhupinder Gujjar vs Jai Vidal. DYNAMITE RATING- Dynamite this week climbed to 703,000 viewers, up 81,000 viewers from the prior week which had competition from the Olympics. In 18-49, Dynamite drew a 0.23, up 0.04 from the previous week and just like the viewership, the best number in three weeks. It was only the third time since June 12 that the show went over the 700,000 viewership mark. Dynamite was #1 on cable TV for the night in the demo. (Ratings credit: Wrestlenomics) A LOOK AT THE GLOBE LIFE FIELD STADIUM- AEW will make its debut at Globe Life Field next year as it brings All In to the great state of Texas and specifically, the city of Arlington Texas. Opened in 2020, Globe Life Field is the home of the Texas Rangers team of the Major League Baseball and can sit up to 40,300 in the stands. The record attendance was of 43,598 for a Morgan Wallet concert held in October 2022 and that is a number that AEW will be looking to break come July 2025. The stadium cost $1.1 billion to construct and has a retractable roof. Artists such as Green Day, Metallica, Def Leppard, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elton John, Jonas Brothers, and others all performed at the stadium. The stadium is located adjacent to the AT&T Stadium, the popular Dallas Cowboys home and the site of WrestleMania 32 and 38. The Esports Stadium, a location which AEW is currently using, is also half a mile away. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

I think it's a great move, and will probably pay off even more the following year with the show back in London. ======================================================== //->> NEWS FROM THE WRESTLING-ONLINE NEWSWIRE Web version at AEW ANNOUNCES ALL IN TEXAS FOR 2025- AEW today announced that All In 2025 will take pace from the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, a month earlier than usual on Saturday, July 12. This will be the first All In show under the AEW banner which will happen in the United States. The news was delivered during a press conference today held at the stadium with Arlington city officials present. "It's a big honor for us to come and be part of that big Texas wrestling tradition," Khan said at the press conference, putting over the Texas fans and the state. Khan said it marks the first time that AEW will hold a pay-per-view in Texas and the first stadium show in the United States. Apparently Khan does not consider the Arthur Ashe Stadium where Dynamite is held once a year as a proper stadium. Leading up to All In, AEW will also have several shows in the area which will be announced at a later time. ALL IN TO RETURN TO LONDON IN 2026- During the same press conference where AEW announced that next year's All In will be moving Stateside to Arlington, Texas, Tony Khan also confirmed that the 2026 edition will return to Wembley Stadium in London, England. Wembley has hosted the inaugural AEW All In and will host the show again next week. While tickets were a major success for the first one, AEW is looking at roughly 45% less attendance this year so far, with a smaller set up, something which was expected since it was going to be extremely hard to top last year's show. Moving the show to a different location for a year will probably be better for the company as they test a new audience, and the London and European crowd is more likely to return the following year after missing out. There could be other potential reasons as to why the show was moved, including a possible WWE show or the venue being booked for a different event. AEW: ALL IN TEXAS FULL PRESS RELEASE- Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, the Texas Rangers, REV Entertainment, Arlington Sports Commission and All Elite Wrestling today announced that Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX will host AEW: All In Texas on Saturday, July 12, 2025. The event will air live around the world on pay-per-view and marks the first time an AEW pay-per-view event has ever been held in Texas. It will also be the first-ever professional wrestling event ever held at Globe Life Field. "On behalf of everyone at AEW, we are ecstatic to bring AEW: All In Texas to Globe Life Field in Arlington on July 12, 2025," said Tony Khan. "AEW: All in Texas will make history as both our first-ever pay-per-view in Texas as well as AEW's American stadium debut, building on the rich legacy of stadium wrestling events held in the US, particularly in the Lone Star State." "We are thrilled for Arlington to partner with All Elite Wrestling for their biggest event of 2025," said Arlington Mayor Jim Ross. "Fans from around the world will converge on our beautiful city to be part of AEW: All In Texas, delivering a significant economic windfall to the region." "AEW: All In Texas marks a huge milestone in Arlington's continued relationship with All Elite Wrestling," said Arlington Sports Commission Executive Director Matt Wilson. "We thank Tony Khan and the entire team at AEW for all of their support to our city and look forward to an event that fans in attendance and watching at home will never forget." "Bringing the first professional wrestling event to Globe Life Field is a historic moment for our venue," said Sean Decker, President of REV Entertainment, the exclusive events partner of the Texas Rangers. "We can't wait to partner with AEW to host thousands of passionate wrestling fans at our world-class venue next summer." Fans interested in exclusive pre-sale opportunities can register to become an AEW Insider by visiting allelitewrestling.com/aew-insider. In addition to AEW: All In Texas, a series of events in Arlington are being planned leading up to the event. Additional details will be announced in the near future. This year, AEW: All In London takes place next Sunday, August 25 live from Wembley Stadium in London. DYNAMITE FROM CARDIFF MOVING TOWARDS A SELL-OUT- It took a while, but next week's Dynamite in Cardiff is slowly heading to a sell-out with less than 500 tickets left according to @WrestleTix. The location has been harder to sell than imagined considering this is the first time that Dynamite is being held outside of North America. But the thousands of people who will be in the country for All In next week will be in London, which is not close to Cardiff, Wales. Dynamite has 3,800 tickets out at The Utilita Arena for next week, with the current setup of the arena at 4,236. Pretty much every section of the small arena was opened up for the show. The cheapest tickets available are going for ?85.55 each including all taxes and fees and can be purchased from Ticketmaster.co.uk. Collision will also be taped following the conclusion of Dynamite. COFFIN MATCH AT ALL IN- For the second year in a row, there will be a coffin match at All In as Jack Perry vs Darby Allin for the TNT title had that stipulation added to it on Dynamite last night. During Dynamite, Darby Allin was doing a promo backstage on Perry when the champion attacked him. Perry managed to put Allin under a bay door and then was about to roll a cart into him but was stopped by security. Perry then said he wanted Allin in a coffin match at Wembley, a stipulation which was made official later. Allin was involved in a coffin match last year on the same show along with Sting against Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage, a match which Sting and Allin won. FTW TITLE MATCH SET FOR ALL IN- The FTW title will be defended at All In as champion Chris Jericho puts his title on the line against former champion Hook. Hook requested the match and Jericho agreed as long as three conditions are met: if Hook loses at Wembley, he can never challenge for the title again as long as Jericho is champion, his feud with The Learning Tree is over, and prior to getting Jericho, Hook has to face Big Bill on Dynamite next week. Hook did not care and accepted all of Jericho's demands so the match was made official. Jericho won the FTW title from Hook at the Dynasty pay-per-view this past April. Last year, the FTW title was also defended on the show but during the Zero Hour portion of the broadcast, with Hook winning the title from Jack Perry. It was the infamous match where Perry told CM Punk to cry him a river, a sentence that led to the All In brawl and departure of Punk from the company. JADE CARGILL PRAISES WWE'S "FAMILY FIRST" ATTITUDE- In a recent interview with Stephanie Chase, Jade Cargill put over Triple H and Nick Khan for being very accommodating when it comes to the balance of work and family life. Cargill said that Levesque understands family and WWE Superstars can now bring family members with them to work and at special events. She said that as an active mother, she really wanted to be at her daughter's first day at school and requested if she can do that since she had other WWE commitments on the same day. Without hesitation, Cargill said she was removed from any work schedule and allowed to be with her daughter on her special day. "I¡¯m at a company that understands the priority that family has on your health, on your mental health. They make sure we are there for the important things in your household," Cargill said. "They understand that your family has to be there for you as well. I can say Paul and everybody else in the front office and Nick Khan, they make sure that family¡¯s first." In a related topic, AEW President Tony Khan is also highly praised for situations like this, with many AEW stars saying that family is really first within the company. NXT RATING- NXT, back on USA Network, drew 617,000 viewers this week, up 83,000 viewers from the prior week. In the 18-49 demo, NXT had a 0.17 which was 0.01 up from the last episode which aired on SyFy. The EVPs will be back on television finally as The Young Bucks defend their AEW Tag Team titles against The Acclaimed, plus, in a first, TBS champion Mercedes Mone defends her title against former AEW Women's champion Hikaru Shida. Also set for tonight are AEW World champion Swerve Strickland taking on Wheeler Yuta, Hangman Adam Page vs Jay Lethal, and a three-way to determine the #1 spot in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In between Kyle O'Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong. Plus, Kazuchika Okada will come face-to-face with Claudio Castagnoli and there will be a film debut by Mariah May. AEW LOOKING AT STADIUM SHOW IN AUSTRALIA NEXT YEAR- The Sporting News is reporting that AEW is looking at doing a stadium show in Australia in 2025 with sources confirming that officials have been scouting venues on Australia's east coast. Sydney's Allianz Stadium, Melbourne's Marvel Stadium and Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium are three of the stadiums being looked at and entertainment company TEG seem to be providing support for the event. Sydney's stadium holds 45,500, Melbourne's holds just over 53,000, while Brisbane's holds 52,500. There were rumors that All In next year might move from Wembley Stadium and held in a different location. Australia has never held an AEW show and the country has enough fans to potentially fill one of those stadiums. WWE's Elimination Chamber was held in Perth in February and had over 50,000 fans. PENTA EL ZERO MIEDO SAYS "PRESENT IS AEW"- Penta El Zero Miedo refuted online reports that he was going to be in Orlando - where WWE PC is located - this week, saying that it's all fake news. "No more gossip," Penta wrote in a message on X. "My present is aew!" While his present is indeed AEW, he did not deny the other rumors about his upcoming contract expiration with the company. It's believed that both he and his brother are on their way out of AEW, with Penta's contract up first in a few weeks and Fenix's contract expiring afterward. Both are not legally able to talk with other promotions which is why Penta put out the statement since they are still under an AEW contract. The two have been working for AEW since its debut in 2019. ALL IN DOCUMENTARY TO AIR NEXT WEEK- AEW announced a new original series for their YouTube channel titled AEW Stories and the first thing to be featured will be last year's All In. The All In episode will feature a behind-the-scenes look at their record-breaking pay-per-view from Wembley Stadium in similar ways that WWE does with their WWE 24 documentary series. The show will premiere on Monday, August 19 starting at Noon ET. You can see a trailer of the episode at . AEW TO BE SHIRT SPONSOR OF FULHAM WOMEN'S FOOTBALL- Fulham Football Club announced that the AEW logo will be the sponsor for the club's women's shirts during the 2024/25 season, to "reflect AEW¡¯s commitment to progressing women¡¯s sport." Alongside their support of Fulham Women, fans can expect to see AEW¡¯s brand presence on a matchday and throughout the stadium. AEW President Tony Khan is also the Director of Football at Fulham FC, a club owned by his family. "Both Fulham Football Club and All Elite Wrestling hold a special place in my heart, and the partnership established here represents not only an elevation of both organisations on the global stage, but also a reminder of our investment and commitment to furthering women¡¯s creative and athletic endeavours at all levels," Khan said in a press statement. "There has been significant progression and growth of FFC Women in recent seasons since the squad transferred to the performance side of the Club," added Steve Jaye, Fulham Women Head Coach. "Having AEW as front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2024/25 campaign is a massive forward step and we are grateful for their support, commitment, and belief in our objectives. We look forward to representing the Club and AEW on the pitch from the first match of the season at Craven Cottage this Sunday." NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCHES FOR NXT TITLES NEXT WEEK- The number one contenders for the NXT title and the NXT Women's title will be decided on next week's broadcast and the winners will get their title shot at the upcoming No Mercy premium live event. A triple threat match will determine who will face Ethan Page for the NXT title and the competitors will be Wes Lee, Pete Dunne, and TNA's Joe Hendry. Hendry appeared on the broadcast last night to interrupt Page but was then taken out by Wes Lee with a superkick. Meanwhile, a gauntlet match has been set up to see who takes on Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's title. Participating in this match will be six women who never received an NXT Women's title shot before including Sol Luca, Jaida Parker, Karmen Petrovic, Wren Sinclair, Adriana Rizzo, and Kendal Grey. NXT No Mercy will take place live from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, September 1. JOHN CENA TO WORK 36 DATES NEXT YEAR- John Cena confirmed that he will be working around 36 dates for WWE next year for his farewell tour which will commence in January 2025. Speaking to Collider, the 16-time world champion said that he has given the calendar year of 2025 "to WWE," suggesting that he will not be doing any big Hollywood productions in that year. Cena said that filming for the TV series Peacemaker will take him until the end of this year, and then it will be all WWE once the year turns. "I start that farewell tour in January and I¡¯ll end it in December. It¡¯s gonna be right around 36 dates around the world to pay thanks and gratitude to the WWE audiences around the world," Cena said. "So, that¡¯s what I¡¯m doing in 2025." The leader of the Cenation will be part of the inaugural episode of Raw on Netflix and will work the major premium live events along the year. 36 dates do not mean that he will be wrestling 36 times although he is expected to be lacing up his boots for PLEs. RAW RATING- It was a good night for Raw in the ratings as the show pulled in 1,890,000 viewers, up 148,000 viewers from last week's broadcast and the best number since Raw after Mania on April 8. Raw was back on USA Network after two weeks on SyFy. The show started with 2,040,000 in the first hour, the first time since Raw after Mania that an hour of Raw broke the two million viewership. The second hour dropped slightly to 1,974,000 viewers and the third hour dragged down to 1,657,000 viewers. With the first hour doing a high number, Raw lost 383,000 viewers from the first to the third hour. Raw had a 0.63 rating in 18-49, up 0.01 from last week's post-SummerSlam show and was #1 on cable television for the night. (Ratings credit: PWTorch) HEELS TO PREMIERE ON NETFLIX ON SEPTEMBER 15- The two seasons of the pro wrestling drama Heels will premiere on Netflix on Sunday, September 15 according to EW. Heels, which aired on STARZ, was canceled by the network after just two seasons but earlier this year, Netflix reached a licensing agreement with Lionsgate to put the show on its streaming service. Based in a fictional town in Georgia, Heels follows two brothers and rivals who go to war over their late father¡¯s legacy. Netflix has the right for a third season depending on how the show does on the service after it debuts. "Netflix is very practical. If a lot of people watch the show, then there¡¯s a real chance that we can make more," said executive producer and showrunner Mike O¡¯Malley. "And if people don¡¯t, there¡¯s no reason to make more¡ The acting performances are so authentic and so genuine by every actor in this series, and I am thrilled that this platform now will be allow more people see those performances." Heels features Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, Allen Maldonado, Alison Luff, Chris Bauer, Kelli Berglund, Mary McCormack, Robby Ramos, Trey Tucker, Roxton Garcia, and James Harrison and features special guest appearances by the likes of CM Punk, AJ Lee, and others. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

Four matches, including two for titles and one for a cup have been announced. Nathan Frazer and Axiom will defend their NXT Tag Team titles against Chase U while North American champion Oba Femi's open challenge has been answered by Alpha Academy's Otis. Plus, Tony D'Angelo defends the NXT Heritage Cup against Charlie Dempsey and Eddy Thorpe takes on Lexis King. Plus, Wes Lee will be in the house to discuss turning on his tag team partners of The Rascals. OTIS ACCEPTS OBA FEMI'S OPEN CHALLENGE- After a brief face-to-face last night on Raw, Alpha Academy's Otis has answered Oba Femi's open challenge for the NXT North American title set for tonight's broadcast which returns to USA Network. Before their match against American Made, Oba Femi was shown in the crowd and he and Otis had an interaction before Otis eventually made it to the ring. At that point, Cole reminded viewers that there's an open challenge for Femi on NXT, a challenge which was accepted by Otis in a digital exclusive after Raw. Femi laid out the challenge on last week's NXT Great American Bash. It will be one of the two title matches set for tonight's broadcast. FYRE AND DAWN INTERRUPT #1 CONTENDERS MATCH- A match to determine the new number one contenders for the WWE Women's Tag Team titles ended up in a no contest after the current champions - Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn - interfered in the match. The match featured Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane taking on Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler and with Sky about to win the match for Damage CTRL, Dawn jumped in to break the pinfall and the champs took out both set of teams. Just moments earlier, Stark went to superkick Sky outside the ring and Sky ducked and instead Stark hit Fyre who was sitting at ringside along with Dawn. A three-way tag team match seems to be the way forward, with the Bash In Berlin premium live event expected to be the place for it. Stark, Baszler, and Sonya Deville are now going by the name of The Pure Fusion Collective. DAKOTA KAI TO UNDERGO SURGERY- Damage CTRL member Dakota Kai is out injured again, this time with a torn meniscus. Raw commentator Michael Cole delivered the news yesterday during the show and said she will be undergoing surgery and could be out of action for up to 10 weeks. Kai was written out of TV last week when she was attacked by Deville, Baszler, and Stark. She is the second Damage CTRL member to be out injured with a knee injury as Asuka has been off television since May. The Kiwi star tore her ACL in May of last year and also had to undergo injury. RANDY ORTON SIGNS NEW WWE DEAL- Randy Orton is staying with WWE for the foreseeable future as Sean Sapp of Fightful is reporting that The Viper has signed a new five-year deal with the company. The deal will take Orton to pretty much almost the end of 2029 and would mark a whopping 29 uninterrupted years with WWE once it expires. His previous deal was signed in 2019. Orton will be taking on Gunther at the upcoming Bash In Berlin premium live event as he targets his 15th world title in the company. He is a former 10-time WWE champion and four-time World Heavyweight champion. MIXED TAG MATCH ANNOUNCED FOR BASH IN BERLIN- The second match for Bash In Berlin was made official last night during Raw and it's a highly-anticipated mixed tag team match. WWE Women's World champion Liv Morgan will team up with her Daddy Dom to take on former champions Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest. The angle was furthered last night at the start of the show ahead of the Priest vs Carlito match. After the match, Judgment Day attacked Priest but Ripley came for the save and was also about to hit the Riptide on Dom but he was saved by Morgan. The only other match announced for the Berlin premium live event so far is Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens for the WWE title. MARK HENRY AND CANDICE MICHELLE APPEAR ON RAW- WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry and former WWE Diva Candice Michelle were both at Raw last night and shown on camera. Henry and his son Jacob were sitting at ringside and the former World Heavyweight champion received a big pop from the Texas crowd. Jacob was acknowledged on TV as a WWE NIL athlete, having recently signed a deal. This was Henry's first WWE TV appearance since 2021 as he joined AEW afterward. He left AEW a few months ago after he decided not to renew his contract. Meanwhile, Candice Michelle was also shown on screen before the women's match. The 45-year-old was a big part of the Divas division for five years after she was discovered during the Diva Search contest. Raw on SyFy still beat USA Network's coverage of the Olympic Games when it comes to ratings the past two weeks. Four matches have been announced, including one for the Intercontinental title which will see Bron Breakker defend his newly-won gold against Sami Zayn in a two-out-of-three falls match. Other matches on tap are Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark vs Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane, The Creed Brothers vs Tozawa and Otis, and Damian Priest vs Carlito. Rhea Ripley, Randy Orton, and Odyssey Jones will also be on the broadcast as the road to Bash In Berlin continues. JOHN CENA SAYS HE'LL NEVER GET OUT OF RETIREMENT- The saying of "never say never" is often used in professional wrestling, but John Cena is making sure that "never" actually remains like that when he retires. Speaking to ComicBook.com, former 16-time world champion John Cena said that he will not break his word and come out of retirement once his 2025 farewell tour is done, saying that he values the trust he built with fans over the year and he's not going to break that. "There isn¡¯t a check writer with enough money to change my mind," Cena told Comic Book. "When I hang it up in December, it isn¡¯t something ¡ª I don¡¯t want to continue for ego or financial gain. I built a relationship of trust and authenticity over the years with the WWE, and that¡¯s people who think I suck and people who believe in me. They know that I shoot them straight and I¡¯m trustworthy. I mean what I say." Cena noted that when he's done in December 2025, he is done and that is the last time he will ever perform in a wrestling ring. The former champion said that he will remain a grateful member of the WWE family as an ambassador, wearing a suit and not his usual sorts, baseball cap, wristband, and t-shirt. "In December 2025, that goes away. And that¡¯s the reason why we¡¯re putting so much equity and emphasis on this farewell tour. Because it truly is the last time for generations ¡ª for grandparents and parents and kids to get together in the same time," he continued. Cena will kick off his farewell tour with the inaugural Raw on Netflix in January 2025 and will work between 30 and 40 dates throughout the year, culminating in a final match sometime in December. MANDY ROSE PARTICIPATES IN THE WBFF BIKINI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS- Former NXT Women's champion Mandy Rose, who now goes by the name of Mandy Sacs, participated in the 2024 WBFF Bikini World Championships in Miami this weekend. She came in second place in the bikini category and third in the wellness category, a culmination of 12 weeks of intensive training. "It felt really great to step back onstage after 10 years, now at 34 years old I feel even better than I did at 24," she told TMZ Sports. Mandy posted several photos and videos from the competition on her Instagram account, receiving nearly 70,000 likes in one day. And if you wonder why, well, you gotta see for yourself at MJF SAYS BACKSTAGE ALTERCATION WITH BRITT BAKER WAS OVERLY EXAGGERATED- MJF has said that the incident with Britt Baker has been blown way out of proportion online and everyone has co-workers at work that they do not get along with and professional wrestling is no different. A backstage incident at the 250th episode of Dynamite saw Britt Baker getting suspended after she made some comments about MJF which his girlfriend, Alicia Atout, overheard. What happened afterward is contested by MJF. "Tell me if this passes the smell test," the AEW American champion told Cultaholic. "I barge into a woman¡¯s locker room. I scream in the face of an 110-pound woman, and then I physically threaten her by punching a wall in her vicinity¡and I don¡¯t get suspended. Does that pass the smell test to you? Almost everything that was written didn¡¯t happen." MJF blamed the clickbait English wrestling commentary websites that make money off people like him for exaggerating what happened. "I can sit here and I can say wrestling is a very competitive sport. It breeds a level of insecurity like no other. However, I can easily put over any talent, regardless of whether or not I like them as a human being." MJF continued. "I can sit here and I can tell you that Britt Baker vs. Mercedes Mone at Wembley on August 25 is going to be an epic match and we should all be excited to watch it." MJF added that he doesn't have to like all his co-workers and it's okay, admitting that reading all the online commentary of what supposedly happened was "wild." DANIEL GARCIA STILL HAS NOT SIGNED AEW DEAL- Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling is reporting through his Select service that AEW star Daniel Garcia has still not signed a new deal and remains off television following the attack from MJF of several weeks ago. Garcia's contract is about to expire and while he has a new deal offered, he is taking his time to most likely weigh his options when he is legally able to. Officially, Garcia cannot talk to WWE, or anyone for that matter, as long as he is still under an AEW contract. The 25-year-old has been signed to AEW since 2021 after a tryout with WWE didn't result in his hiring. He could be one of the three stars who are potentially leaving the company along with Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix. SIDNEY AKEEM MAKES ROH DEBUT- Sidney Akeem, the man formerly known as Reggie and Scrypts in WWE, made his Ring of Honor debut last night during the television tapings held at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It's unclear if Akeem has signed with AEW/ROH at this point but he did wrestle against Johnny TV on the show. Akeem, who signed with WWE in 2020, left the company a few months ago after his contract expired and was not renewed. He made his debut as Carmella's sommelier first but then was sent to NXT two years later and wrestled under a mask and name Scrypts. The 31-year-old is a former performer for Cirque du Soleil. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

MJF came out with an American flag, yellow trunks and boots and red kneecaps, channeling his inner Hulk Hogan as he continues his feud with the Brits. After the match was over, the champion was about to hit the Tiger Driver on Amira Blair but Will Ospreay's music hit the speakers to a thunderous ovation from the crowd. Ospreay removed his shirt at the top of the ramp and then ran down for MJF, but MJF bailed out as the fans sang along to Ospreay's theme. Ospreay then cut a promo in the ring and promised that he will do whatever it takes to regain the title from MJF at All In. You can see his appearance at . BRYAN DANIELSON SAYS HE WILL NEED TO UNDERGO NECK SURGERY- During an interview aired last night on Collision, Bryan Danielson admitted that he will have to undergo neck surgery before the end of the year. "That's the reality of it," Danielson told Jim Ross in the sit-down interview. "And that¡¯s kind of something I have accepted, it¡¯s coming down the pike relatively soon." The American Dragon is set to face AEW World champion Swerve Strickland at the upcoming All In pay-per-view in Wembley in a title vs career match. Danielson has never won a title in AEW and this is the final shot. Over the past several months, Danielson said that he will wind down his in-ring career after his current contract ends. His deal ended on August 1 but he remains part of AEW and intends to remain part of the AEW family in some form. TONY KHAN SAYS IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS "LOOMING LARGE"- AEW President Tony Khan wrote that the most important announcements in AEW history are "looming large now" in a post on X while hyping All In and last night's episode of Collision. One of those announcements is the AEW media rights deal which is expected to stay within the Warner Bros. Discovery family. While the exclusive negotiating window has expired, it is believed that AEW is not actively looking at a different partner and all signs point towards the extending of the relationship between AEW and WBD. The question now is how much AEW will get for their next deal and that sum will eventually determine the profitability of the company and ability to secure top talent over the next few years. Khan traveled to Paris, France last week to meet with WBD President David Zlasav to wrap up contract negotiations between the two sides. What other announcements apart from the TV deal that Khan is alluding to remain unknown. ALL IN AND ALL OUT PPV COMBO PACK- Triller TV is offering an AEW All In and All Out pay-per-view pack for those in the United States and internationally. For those in the U.S., the combo pack will cost $84.99, while those residing internationally will have a much better price of $34.99 if you have the AEW Plus subscription. An AEW Plus subscription is $7.99 per month. For those in the U.S., All In will have the regular $49.99 price as a standalone pay-per-view while those outside the U.S. will have to pay $24.99 or else $19.99 if you have an AEW Plus subscription. AEW Plus subscriptions are not available in the United States. For more information go to TrillerTV.com. WWE NIL ATHLETE WINS OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL- WWE NIL athlete Masai Russel won her first Olympic gold medal in the 100m hurdles, besting her closest rival by just 0.01 second. Russel has been signed to a NIL deal since 2021 and was part of the inaugural class of the program. "Huge congrats to inaugural #WWENIL class member Masai Russell on taking home Olympic gold in the 100m hurdles," wrote WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque on X. The WWE NIL - Next In Line - program provides a pathway from college athletics to WWE through collaborative partnerships with college athletes from diverse athletic backgrounds. During Smackdown last night, Solo Sikoa demanded a rematch in Berlin but Cody blew him off, mentioning how he failed at SummerSlam. At that point, The Bloodline - minus Jacob Fatu - surrounded Rhodes until Kevin Owens hit the ring with steel chairs, fending them off. Rhodes told Owens that he would like to face him in Germany. Owens appreciated Cody's gesture but told him he has to earn it first. Cody told Owens that he earned it by having his back every single time over the past several months. In a backstage segment later in the show, Smackdown GM Nick Aldis told Owens that he's thinking about giving Reigns a rematch, but Owens stopped complaining and argued that the rematch clause has been dead for a while and there are others who should get a title shot instead. So Aldis made it official and at Bash In Berlin, it will be Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens for the gold. SETH ROLLINS TAKING TIME OFF FROM WWE- Former WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins will be taking some more time off to address other injuries that are preventing him from being 100%. The attack by Bronson Reed on Raw this past Monday was a way to write Rollins off television for whatever necessary time is required, and upon his return, he would already have two feuds he needs to tackle: Reed and of course, CM Punk. Rollins underwent knee surgery right after WrestleMania XL after injuring the knee in January during a match against Jinder Mahal. He returned in time for Money In The Bank where he got a title match against Damian Priest, which remains the only match he wrestled since WrestleMania. The flamboyant Rollins was kept off the SummerSlam card although they still find a way to integrate him by making him the special guest referee for the CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre match. BALOR AND MCDONAGH TO MAKE RARE INDIE APPEARANCE- The current WWE World Tag Team champions, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, will be making a rare indie appearance in October to celebrate the Irish-based Over The Top Wrestling's 10th year anniversary. Their involvement was revealed earlier today via video during the OTT Scrappermania VIII event where a video showing several OTT alumni appeared on screen and the voice over said that they all left it on the canvas to get OTT where it is today, but soon they would meet their Judgment Day! The video got a massive ovation from the crowd when McDonagh was shown on screen and an even bigger pop for Finn Balor. The 10th anniversary show will be held on Saturday, October 26 live at Dublin¡¯s National Stadium. You can see the crowd's reaction to the video at . WOMEN TO BE FEATURED ON WWE SPEED- WWE is expanding the Speed show to feature women as well and is introducing the WWE Speed Women's title. The Speed title is only defended on the show that streams exclusively on the X social media platform. The news was announced by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque last night. "Time to turn #WWESpeed up another notch¡ excited to announce that the WWE Speed Women¡¯s Championship Tournament will premiere Sept. 4 at 12pm ET / 9am PT, exclusively on @X," he wrote. Andrade is currently the WWE Speed champion for the men. New episodes of WWE Speed air on X every Wednesday at Noon ET. ANNA JAY VICTORIOUS IN STARDOM DEBUT- AEW star Anna Jay began her STARDOM 5Star Grand Prix tournament today with a win over Saori Anou. This is the first time that an AEW star is wrestling in this tournament, and Jay certainly made a good first impression in Japan. Jay is in the Blue Stars block of this tournament. Last year's event had a familiar face for AEW as Mariah May was one of the participants. WWE-bound Giulia was also in the tournament last year which was won by Suzu Suzuki. SCOTT D'AMORE DISCUSSES TNA EXIT- Appearing on Busted Open Radio, former TNA President Scott D'Amore revealed that he found out that he was being forced out of his position two days before the Hard To Kill pay-per-view in January. He said that he and Anthem CEO Len Asper had a chat about it and while he saw signs along the way, he admitted it still hit him pretty hard. "But I did what professionals do. I locked that in that place in my brain and kept it there and flew to Las Vegas with Tommy and the rest of the team," D'Amore said. He said that TNA succeeded because of the team they assembled and he's proud to have assembled that particular team. D'Amore added that following the television tapings in Florida after Hard To Kill, he had fulfilled his obligations but the next day, he secured Jordynne Grace to be in the Royal Rumble and started thinking about raising funds to purchase TNA from Anthem. "Any of the BS that I tried to buy the company and that¡¯s what led to me leaving, was not the case," D'Amore said. "It boiled down to a difference of opinions on how things should be. There was no f you...no, f you." He said that he's spoken to Asper since then and Asper told D'Amore he hopes there are no hard feelings. "I said I can¡¯t say there are no hard feelings, but there are no personal feelings," D'Amore continued. THE ROCK APPEARS AT DISNEY'S D23- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson appeared at the Disney D23 Celebration yesterday in Anaheim. Johnson, who just finished wrapping filming The Smashing Machine, came out on stage and did a small performance with the rest of the Moana 2 crew and introduced the trailer of the popular Disney movie. Moana 2 will open in theaters nationwide on November 27, 2024. Johnson will once again voice the character of Maui. Disney is also doing a live-action movie of Moana which will have Johnson playing the role of Maui. Filming on that movie is supposed to start this month. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

After short stints with Smokey Mountain Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling in the early 90s, he returned to WCW for his most famous run. "WWE is saddened to learn that Kevin Sullivan has passed away. We extend our condolences to Kevin's family, friends and fans," read a short statement by WWE. A post on WWE.COM was also uploaded. AEW also issued a statement, reading, "AEW and the wrestling world mourn the passing of the legendary Kevin Sullivan. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends and his fans." Diamond Dallas Page, who worked closely with Sullivan during his WCW days, said this passing really hurts his heart. "I recently was talking to Ric Flair who told me that Sully wasn't doing well and I should call him. I immediately called him," Page wrote. "This one hit me really hard. Sully was a huge part of my life. Yes, we had our ups and the downs, but like so many of our brothers over the years we really grew to love each other." WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H also chimed in, saying that Sullivan had one of the most unique minds in the history of the industry, pushing creative boundaries and developing some of the most intriguing characters to step into the ring. WWE VP OF TALENT RELATIONS GONE AFTER 17 YEARS OF SERVICE- WWE Vice President of Talent Relations Operations Kristin Altman was let go from her role after 17 years with the company. In 2012 she received a promotion to a manager and three years later to senior manager. In 2017, Altman was promoted Director of Talent Development before getting the Senior Director role in 2019. In 2021, she climbed to Vice President of Talent Development and a year later to her latest role. While no reason is known why she was fired, the talent relations department underwent a massive overhaul lately and she joins a long list of high-ranking executives who were dismissed following the TKO merger. BOBBY LASHLEY'S WWE DEAL ENDING THIS WEEK- Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling is reporting that Bobby Lashley's contract with WWE will expire this weekend. Lashley has not signed a new deal and is not expected to stay with the company once it's up. His former manager MVP is also on his way out, with the two looking to reunite and do business outside the WWE. The former champion has not wrestled since the May 5 non-televised live event in France, beating Santos Escobar. His last televised appearance was on April 12 of this year, in a triple threat match against LA Knight and Santos Escobar. There were rumors that Death Triangle were originally penned for the trios match but with Penta and Fenix seemingly on the way out, plans had to be changed. All In is live on Sunday, August 25 from London, England. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.co.uk. BRITT BAKER APPEARS ON DYNAMITE...VIA VIDEO- Sporting a red AEW jacket, Britt Baker appeared on Dynamite last night, via video, after her real-life suspension ended. Baker showed up on screen to interrupt Mercedes Mone who was gloating in the ring after Kamille won a handicap match. Tony Schiavone broke the news to Mone that Tony Khan overruled the EVPs and lifted Baker's suspension and she was there, kinda, via video. Baker tore into Mone and told her that we all know that when things don't go her way, she just takes the ball and go home, referring to when she walked out of WWE a couple of years ago. The dentist vowed to get her hands on the champion next week on Dynamite. The former AEW Women's champion was suspended for a week two weeks ago for a backstage altercation with MJF and his girlfriend Alicia Atout. She did not appear on last week's Dynamite, with Mercedes Mone saying that she had her suspended by the EVPs. AEW LOWERS SOME TICKET PRICES FOR TV TAPINGS FROM CARDIFF- AEW has lowered the price of some tickets for its Dynamite and Collision tapings from Cardiff which are set for Wednesday, August 21. The 5,000-seater Utilita Arena has over 1,500 tickets left for a complete sell-out, and some tickets have gone down in price to ?47.65 each. Most of the tickets remain high with two weeks to go for the event, with the next cheapest price at ?85.55. AEW seems to have adapted WWE's pricing strategy for this show, with ringside seats at a whopping ?397.85. Tickets are available at . NICK KHAN WORKING ON SECURING MORE SHORT-FORM DEALS FOR WWE- During the conference call with investors, TKO President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro revealed that WWE President Nick Khan is working on several other short-form deals for WWE which they hope to announce soon. The last short-form deal that WWE signed was with Elon Musk's social media company X for WWE Speed, a weekly show airing exclusively on the platform featuring quick matches with a time limit. WWE also had Mixed Match Challenge airing on Facebook years ago but that ended in 2018 after just two seasons. In the same call, Shapiro also put over Paul "Triple H" Levesque big time and credited him for WWE staying hot while breaking records along the way. NXT RATING- Night two of NXT's Great American Bash drew 534,000 viewers this week, up 66,000 viewers from the prior week. Changing to SyFy obviously affected NXT's viewership and so did its competition in the form of the Olympics. NXT drew a 0.16 rating in 18-49, u 0.01 from last week. The show returns to USA Network next week. (Ratings credit: Wrestlenomics) TKO ANNOUNCES Q2 2024 FINANCIAL RESULTS- TKO this morning announced financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2024. "TKO generated strong financial results in the quarter, highlighted by record quarterly revenue and Adjusted EBITDA," said Ariel Emanuel, Executive Chair and CEO of TKO. "In light of this continued momentum, we are raising our full year 2024 guidance for the second quarter in a row. The strength in our underlying business continues to give us great conviction in TKO¡¯s ability to deliver sustainable long-term value for shareholders." Revenue increased 179%, or $546.0 million, to $851.2 million. The increase reflected an increase of $89.2 million at UFC, to $394.4 million, and the contribution of $456.8 million of revenue at WWE. Net Income was $150.7 million, an increase of $68.9 million from $81.8 million in the prior year period. The increase reflected the increase in revenue partially offset by an increase in operating expenses. WWE revenue was $410.3 million for the period from April 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023. The increase of 11%, or $46.5 million, was primarily due to an increase in live events revenue and an increase in media rights and content revenue. The increase in live events revenue was primarily related to an increase in ticket sales revenue. The increase in media rights and content revenue was primarily related to holding one additional premium live event compared to the prior year period and the contractual escalation of media rights fees. These increases were partially offset by a decrease in third-party original programming due to the timing of delivery. Consumer products revenue was relatively flat primarily reflecting an increase in video game licensing revenue offset by the previously disclosed transition of the venue merchandise business to Fanatics in May 2023. The full report can be accessed at TKO STOCKS UP 8%- Following the better-than-expected TKO Q2 2024 financial results, TKO stocks shot up nearly 9% during the trading day. A new all-time high of $120.08 was reached and stocks were trading at just over $118 as of press time. Stocks opened the day at $112.38. Year-to-date, TKO stocks were up a whopping 45% after opening on January 2 at $80.34. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

Scheduled for tonight's show are Bryan Danielson vs Jeff Jarrett in a no disqualification match with Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat as the special guest referee, MJF vs Kyle Fletcher in an AEW American Title eliminator match, Katsuyori Shibata vs Bryan Keith, and Mariah May vs Viva Van. Tony Khan said that travel problems affected several stars already but those who need to be there are either on the way or already in the city. KHAN SAYS THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME EVER FOR AEW- AEW President Tony Khan remained bullish on the upcoming media rights deal and said that right now is the most important time ever in the history of AEW. Speaking on Chicago-based Q101 radio, Khan said that they're on the verge of the most important deal they'll ever make, referring to the media rights deal with, presumably, Warner Bros. Discovery. "Over five years it¡¯s really been building to this point where AEW¡¯s going to jump into the media rights and be a very profitable, successful company that has lived up to every expectation," Khan said. The exclusive negotiation window with WBD has ended with no deal announced yet although industry insiders feel it's just a matter of time before it is announced. But the question is not if, but how much, AEW will be getting for their new deal. Khan has openly said that he wants to stay with the WBD family and also add a streaming deal with Max. The amount of the deal with determine the profitability of the company over the next several years as well as their ability to pay good money for the biggest stars in the business. BRITT BAKER TO APPEAR ON COBRA KAI- PWInsider.com is reporting that former AEW Women's champion Britt Baker will be appearing in the second half of the Cobra Kai season six series on Netflix. The website says that Baker will play the role of a karate competitor from a dojo competing at the upcoming Sekai Taikai tournament in Spain. The association between AEW and Cobra Kai is not new as one of the lead actors, Martin Kove, appeared on AEW television before and was also a guest of Renee Paquette's podcast, putting over Baker who is a big Cobra Kai fan. Part two of Cobra Kai season six will be uploaded to Netflix on November 15. NEW TNT SHOW TO FEATURE AEW STARS- A new series titled TNT Overdrive will premiere this Saturday immediately following Collision featuring AEW stars. The show will "bring adrenaline junkies a collection of the most thrilling moments and exclusive stories from AEW wrestlers," according to the TNT website. TNT Overdrive looks like it will be a clip show with stunts, crashes, flips, etc with AEW stars watching and telling their own stories. The preview had Will Ospreay, Willow Nightingale, The Acclaimed, and Billy Gunn. WES LEE TURNS HEELS, ENDING THE RASCALZ REUNION- The Rascalz reunion did not last very long as Wes Less turned heel and took out both his tag team partners during last night's NXT Great American Bash. The turn came after Lee and Wentz, tag teaming again as MSK, lost their NXT Tag Team title shot against champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom. With both Trey Miguel and Zachary Wenz consoling Lee after the loss, he superkicked Miguel out of the blue and then hit a low blow on Wentz. Lee then blamed Wentz for leaving him alone. Lee continued his assault on Miguel outside the ring, throwing him through the security barricade and then hit a double running knee on Wentz who was sitting down with his back to the steel steps. The Rascalz reunited a few weeks ago on NXT after the relationship with TNA allowed for certain stars to appear on both shows. RAW RATING- The fallout from SummerSlam had WWE Raw bring a very good rating on a different channel against the Olympics this week, with Raw drawing 1,715,000 viewers, up 305,000 from the previous week. Raw started strong with 1,825,000 viewers and then dropped to 1,742,000 viewers in the second hour before finishing the night with 1,579,000 viewers. In 18-49, Raw drew a 0.62 overall, up 0.11 from last week and the highest since July 1. It was #1 on cable television, beating the Olympics on USA Network but NBC's coverage of the games took the top spot in all of TV. Orton is from Smackdown but appeared on the show last night to challenge the champion, reminding him that the King of the Ring final win Gunther has over him comes with an asterisk as his shoulders were not down on the mat despite the referee counting to three. The Viper said he respected the referee's decision but he still wanted another shot at Gunther and the newly-crowned champion accepted the challenge. Gunther got the title shot at SummerSlam because he won the King of the Ring tournament in Saudi Arabia. Gunther vs Orton is so far the only match announced for Bash In Berlin which takes place on Saturday, August 31 in Germany. FIRST TWO EPISODES OF NXT ON THE CW GO ON THE ROAD- WWE just announced that the first two episodes of NXT on The CW will be on the road and Chicago and St. Louis will be the two host cities. The premiere episode on The CW on October 1 will be from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. The Allstate Arena has been very kind to WWE over the past several months, selling out every time there's a show. Then, the October 8 episode, which will go head-to-head with AEW's Title Tuesday, will take place from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The press release also revealed that two shows will feature special appearances by CM Punk and Randy Orton respectively. Tickets for both shows go on sale Thursday, August 15 at 10AM on Ticketmaster.com. To register for pre-sale go to . BRONSON REEDS DESTROYS SETH ROLLINS- Bronson Reed finally "arrived" on Raw last night and wiped out Seth Rollins in his first major angle since he was brought back to the company in 2022. Seth Rollins was involved in an in-ring segment which also featured CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Punk and Rollins were ready to go at it following SummerSlam but McIntyre had other plans, appearing in the crowd and made fun of both of them. This led to Punk to exit the ring and run through the stands to get to McIntyre, leaving Rollins all alone. At that point, the Australian star showed up and took out the former WWE World Heavyweight champion, laying him out with multiple splashes from the top rope. With referees and officials trying to restore some order, Reed wanted none of that and hit four more splashes from the top rope as Michael Cole and Pat McAfee went crazy on commentary. Rollins ended up spitting blood and then he was pulled out of the ring when Reed was going for his seventh splash. You can check out the segment at . ODYSSEY JONES MAKES RAW DEBUT- It looks like The New Day has gained a new member in the form of Odyssey Jones. The former NXT star made his presence felt coming to the rescue of The New Day in their fight against The Final Testament. After Karrion Kross interfered in the match between The New Day and AOP, Jones evened the odds and took out Kross. Following the match, Jones took out both Akam and Rezar with a sidewalk slam at the same time which popped the crowd big time. "Strength, size, star power¡ and he¡¯s only getting started. Odyssey Jones is a game-changer," Triple H wrote on X after his debut. Jones has been assigned to the main roster since the 2023 Draft but never appeared on TV since then. In the 2024 Draft he was kept on Raw but it was only yesterday that he made his debut. Jones signed a WWE deal in February 2019 and was part of the NXT roster until his call-up in 2023. You can see his debut at . SMACKDOWN RATING- The Smackdown on the eve of SummerSlam drew 2,179,000 viewers, up 121,000 viewers from the prior week which was a taped show going head-to-head with the opening of the Olympics. The Olympics coverage on NBC won the night easily but Smackdown did a 0.60 rating in 18-49, up 0.08 from the previous episode and was #2 on the night behind NBC's coverage of sports. (Ratings credit: Programming Insider) LIV MORGAN SIGNS WITH PARADIGM- WWE Women's World champion Liv Morgan is the latest Superstar to sign with talent agency Paradigm for representation. Her deal with Paradigm is to find more outside opportunities when it comes to movies, TV, and others. The 30-year-old has already appeared in an independent movie as well as TV shows. Morgan is the fifth Superstar with Paradigm following the signing of CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, and Tiffany Stratton. Morgan just came off a successful title defense at SummerSlam against Rhea Ripley. THE LUCHA BROS RUMORED TO BE HEADING TO WWE- The Wrestling Observer is reporting that there is belief that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are departing AEW to sign with WWE when their contracts are up in a few weeks. The Lucha Bros have been part of AEW since 2019 and the first Double or Nothing and since then have been a staple on AEW programming being part of some of the most incredible moments on AEW television. Penta's contract will be expiring first and Fenix's contract will expire after. The real-life brothers have never worked for WWE before but have pretty much wrestled for every other major company in the world. They are former AEW Tag Team champions and AEW Trios champions with PAC. RAMPAGE RATING- Rampage had a rough night on Friday, drawing just 209,000 viewers, down 97,000 viewers from the prior week. This was the lowest number in the history of the show dating back to 2021. Rampage went up against Olympics coverage on NBC and USA Network. In 18-49, the show had a 0.08 rating, down 0.03 from the prior week and ties for the lowest number in the show's history as well. Dynamite's fifth-year anniversary show will be held on Wednesday, October 2 live from the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It will be exactly five years to the day of AEW's debut episode. Tickets for this show will go on sale on August 9 at AEWTix.com. The Title Tuesday episode will take place a week later, on Tuesday, October 8 live from the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington. Dynamite will be preempted on Wednesday due to the TBS coverage of the MLB playoffs and that puts it in a head-to-head competition with NXT for one night a year only. Tickets for this show also go on sale on August 9. Last year's show saw NXT easily beat AEW in head-to-head numbers after WWE loaded up the broadcast with the likes of John Cena, The Undertaker, Paul Heyman, Asuka, and other main roster stars. RAW PREVIEW- The fallout from SummerSlam will take place tonight on Raw live from Baltimore, Maryland and just like last week, the show will air on SyFy instead of USA Network due to the Olympics coverage. Five matches are being advertised so far for the show including Sheamus vs Ludwig Kaiser, Dakota Kai vs Sonya Deville, Awesome Truth vs A-Town Down Under, The New Day vs AOP, and the in-ring debut of The Wyatt Sicks vs Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers in a six-man tag team match. Plus, the new WWE World Heavyweight champion Gunther will be in the house along with CM Punk and Drew McIntyre who will continue their feud after their first match at SummerSlam. Raw returns to USA Network next week. TRISH STRATUS HINTS AT ANOTHER RUN- WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus told Sports Illustrated that Cody Rhodes wasn't the only Superstar with an unfinished story and hinted at a return to the company. "I loved being back as a special guest in Toronto at Money in the Bank. And who knows, if I can still go, I¡¯ll still keep going," Stratus said. "I¡¯ll never half-ass it. If fans are interested and it can influence another generation, then we¡¯ll see." The former multi-time champion, now 48, has not wrestled since Payback in September of last year. That match was in a cage and was originally scheduled for SummerSlam, but was cut from the program and saved for later. Stratus said that before she ended her latest run, she wanted a cage match and said that they were looking at a max of 10 minutes for the match at SummerSlam and not in a cage, so she was happy to get a longer time and do it the following month in a cage. "I know people had thought the 'dream matches' were with Charlotte and Mercedes, but I loved working with Becky, too. I wanted to go back as a heel, and it ended up working out so well for us," she continued. ROMAN REIGNS ADVERTISED FOR SMACKDOWN- Fans at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma this Friday night on Smackdown will get to witness Roman Reigns live as the original Tribal Chief is now advertised to appear on the show. Reigns returned to WWE this past Saturday at SummerSlam and took out Solo Sikoa, helping Cody Rhodes win his second Bloodline Rules match. Sikoa, who took the reigns of the Tribal Chief with Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu by his side, has been dissing Reigns lately and the former Undisputed WWE champion is now back for revenge. Reigns took a four-month break from all-things WWE following his loss at WrestleMania and looks like he will be returning as a proper babyface, something which he hasn't been able to be for years and years. LOGAN PAUL COMMENTS ON TITLE LOSS- Former United States champion Logan Paul made his first public comment since losing the belt at SummerSlam. "279 days as United States Champion, the 3rd longest US Title reign in WWE history," Paul wrote on X. "I really gave it my all in my hometown, it was a dream performing at the stadium where I grew up watching the Browns play." Paul wrote that SummerSlam was a "fkn banger all the way through" and he's honored to be part of this great company. "Congratulations @RealLAKnight, I¡¯ll be in touch about my broken truck," he added. Paul also added "Roman Reigns is back" with an exploding head emoji to wrap up his post. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

Was it the best SummerSlam ever? No, not at all, but all the matches clicked, and all the winners made sense. That Roman Reigns return pop was something else! ======================================================== //->> NEWS FROM THE WRESTLING-ONLINE NEWSWIRE Web version at SUMMERSLAM 2024 RESULTS- Here are the results from SummerSlam 2024 which took place live from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Liv Morgan defeated Rhea Ripley to retain the WWE Women¡¯s World title; Bron Breakker defeated Sami Zayn to become the new WWE Intercontinental champion; LA Knight defeated Logan Paul to become the new United States champion; Nia Jax defeated Bayley to become the new WWE Women¡¯s champion; Drew McIntyre defeated CM Punk with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee; Gunther defeated Damian Priest to become the new WWE World Heavyweight champion; Cody Rhodes defeated Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules match to retain the WWE title. ROMAN REIGNS RETURNS AT SUMMERSLAM, TAKES OUT SOLO SIKOA- Former Undisputed WWE champion Roman Reigns returned to SummerSlam and interfered in the Bloodline Rules match main event, taking out Solo Sikoa and ending his quest to become champion. Following interferences by Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jacob Fatu, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton, Reigns' new theme song kicked in and the Cleveland crowd exploded. Wearing a new shirt with the OTC letters on it - Original Tribal Chief - Reigns took his time to walk down the aisle but ran the last part and then once he hit the ring, he delivered the Superman punch on Solo. The crowd, at this point, was already losing it, and a few seconds later, Reigns hit a big spear on his cousin. A confused Cody Rhodes looked on as Reigns stared at him before leaving the ring. Rhodes then hit a Cross Rhodes to Sikoa and pinned him to retain the title. Reigns had been off WWE television since night two of WrestleMania XL. FOUR NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT SUMMERSLAM 2024- Four out of six title matches at SummerSlam ended up with brand new champions, with only Liv Morgan and Cody Rhodes coming out of Cleveland still holding on to their gold. The first one to fall was Intercontinental champion Sami Zayn. In a relatively quick match, it was Bron Breakker who made full use of his second opportunity for the title and quickly defeated Zayn. This is Breakker's first title on the main roster, with his dad Rick Steiner and uncle Scott Steiner in attendance witnessing the moment. Logan Paul's 273-reign also came to an end with LA Knight winning his first title in WWE. Paul only had two previous successful title defenses prior to yesterday and with him being a part-timer, the title is now back full time on WWE television. YEAH! Nia Jax became a two-time singles champion when she defeated Bayley in a match that had a hint of a Money In The Bank cash-in. But Stratton only did it as an interference, helping her friend win her first title since she returned in September 2023. She got her shot after winning the Queen of the Ring tournament and ended Bayley's 117-day reign. The last title swap came in the World Heavyweight title match, with King of the Ring winner Gunther winning his first world title on the main roster. Gunther defeated champion Damian Priest after Finn Balor turned on his stablemate. Gunther's wife - and former WWE Superstar herself - Jinny was in attendance to celebrate with him. Gunther spent 666 days as Intercontinental champion, maybe a sign of things to come with the WWE World Heavyweight title. COLE TO MOVE TO SMACKDOWN WITH TESSITORE JOINING RAW- It was announced last night during the Countdown to SummerSlam show that Michael Cole will be moving to Smackdown in September while new WWE commentator and ESPN's Joe Tessitore will move to Raw. Tessitore, considered one of the best sports play-by-play announcers, will start with the September 2 episode of Raw in Denver. Cole will switch to Smackdown when the show moves back to USA Network on September 13, 2024. He made an appearance during the SummerSlam pre-show to talk about the move and kind of introduce himself to the audience with his familiar voice. It remains unclear who their broadcast partners will be but for sure, Corey Graves will revert to being an analyst rather than the main play-by-play announcer. A previous press release announcing the hiring of Tessitore said that Cole and McAfee would remain on Raw while Tessitore, Graves, and Barrett would do Smackdown. STEPHANIE MCMAHON, ARN ANDERSON, MGK APPEAR AT SUMMERSLAM- Former WWE CEO and Chairwoman Stephanie McMahon made an appearance at SummerSlam and was shown on camera sitting at ringside. Stephanie got a huge pop from the crowd when she was acknowledged on screen, with her husband Triple H later saying in the press conference that McMahon has no official role within the company but expects her to be around more in future events. A video making the rounds also shows Stephanie embracing CM Punk with a long hug after his loss to Drew McIntyre. Four Horsemen member Arn Anderson also made a surprise appearance, giving Cody Rhodes a pep talk before he walked out for his match against Solo Sikoa. Anderson told Cody that there are some angry islanders but he found some friends willing to even the odds for him. Anderson, who was removed from WWE in 2019, joined AEW where he was a producer and on-screen talent with Rhodes. He left the company a few months ago. At the post-show press conference, Cody said that he found sanity in Anderson during a chaotic time backstage at AEW and hopes he gets to see him more. Artist Machine Gun Kelly was also a surprise during the event, coming out with Logan Paul for his United States title match. MGK, who is from Cleveland, is not new to WWE programming and once got powerbombed off the stage and through a table by Kevin Owens. MGK got involved in the match as well, handing Paul his brass knuckles. Speaking of getting involved in matches, Jelly Roll also had his part on the show. He first performed God Bless America and then did the intro for the show live. Later in the broadcast, Jelly Roll came in the ring during the Miz/Truth segment with A-Town Down Under, hitting Theory and Waller with a chair shot, then delivering a picture-perfect chokeslam and the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Theory. JUDGMENT DAY DISINTEGRATES AT SUMMERSLAM- It was a particularly very bad night for the Judgment Day faction as it imploded in Cleveland. Dom Mysterio was the first one to mess things up as he was actually in cahoots with Liv Morgan all along. Mysterio prevented Ripley from hitting Morgan with a chair, saying that she wouldn't win the title with a DQ and then slid in the same chair for Morgan to use while he distracted the referee. Ripley ended up getting a second Oblivion on the chair, losing the match and the opportunity to win back the title she never lost in the first place. After the match, Dirty Dom made out with Liv Morgan as a very angry Mami looked on from the ring. In a backstage segment later, Damian Priest was livid for what happened and wanted to kill Mysterio, who was not there. He unloaded his frustrations on Finn Balor again, asking if he knew what the plan was. Balor said no and left. Later in the show before his match, Priest apologized to Balor for accusing him of knowing Dom's plans, but little did he know that he was also about to be double-crossed. Towards the end of the World Heavyweight title match, Balor came out and helped Gunther put his leg on the ropes to break a pin. With Priest distracted due to Balor's appearance and action, Gunther locked in a sleeper hold, then a powerbomb, and another sleeper before Priest passed out and a new champion was crowned. It remains to be seen which side the other members will pick come Raw but one thing is for sure, Judgment Day as we know it is over! JACOB FATU SUFFERS LEG INJURY- In the post-show press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque confirmed that Jacob Fatu injured his leg but the extent of the injury remains unknown at this point. Fatu injured his leg when he performed a splash from the top rope onto Cody Rhodes who was placed on the announce table. Fatu immediately clutched his leg upon landing and looked in serious pain, unable to stand up to continue. "Jacob's a little banged up, hopefully nothing series," Triple H said during the press conference. "It was bugging him a little bit the leg." Fatu won the WWE Tag Team titles with Tama Tonga on Friday night at Smackdown so his inability to compete if he is injured would have consequences on that as well. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

I will be watching live assuming I don't fall asleep!! ======================================================== //->> NEWS FROM THE WRESTLING-ONLINE NEWSWIRE Web version at SUMMERSLAM 2024 LIVE TONIGHT- Live from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, WWE presents SummerSlam 2024 on Peacock and WWE Network. The full card is as follows: Cody Rhodes vs Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules match for the Undisputed WWE title; Damian Priest vs Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight title; Bayley vs Nia Jax for the WWE Women's title; Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley for the Women's World title; Sami Zayn vs Bron Breakker for the WWE Intercontinental title; Logan Paul vs LA Knight for the WWE United States title; CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee. The Countdown to SummerSlam show will start at 4PM ET and will air on Peacock, WWE Network, and all of WWE's social media properties. The premium live event will kick off at 7PM ET. BLOODLINE RULES STIPULATION ADDED TO MAIN EVENT- The SummerSlam main event match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa for the WWE title tonight will be contested under Bloodline Rules. Bloodline Rules, meaning anything goes, ensures that there will be a lot of interference during the match. Sikoa made the request for the stipulation during last night's Smackdown. Sikoa promised that the title would be coming back to The Bloodline and Cody fired back saying that all he has to do is beat the Tribal Chief, and since the real Tribal Chief is not here, he'll have to do with a wannabe. There are rumors that Roman Reigns will be returning on the show tonight. He has not been seen since night two of WrestleMania XL. THE BLOODLINE WINS WWE TAG TEAM TITLES- DIY's tag team title reign was cut short after The Bloodline won the titles last night during the main event of Smackdown. Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga got rid of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano in under 10 minutes, with Gargano doing the job after Fatu hit a moonsault and an implant DDT for the win. As expected, the match had the interference of both Solo Sikoa and Tonga Lao. The night ended with the new self-proclaimed Tribal Chief Solo Sikoa posing with the two title belts on his shoulder when the new champions handed over their gold. Ciampa and Gargano spent a total of just 28 days as champions after they beat A-Town Down Under on the July 5 episode of Smackdown from Toronto. OVER 54,000 TICKETS OUT FOR SUMMERSLAM- SummerSlam at the Cleveland Browns Stadium has now over 54,000 tickets out as the final push continues to sell whatever tickets remain leading up to the show. WWE opened several sections on the hard cam side which increased the total number to 56,600 available seats according to @WrestleTix. Non-WrestleMania stadium shows are not fully open although it seems only the 400 Level seats on the south side of the stadium remain closed. The company distributed over 51,000 tickets for last year's show at Ford Field in Detroit, so this year's event has already surpassed it. Hundreds of tickets on the floor remain available although prices have gone down significantly now with just hours to go. By the time the show starts, pretty much the whole floor seating will be gone. NXT STARS AT TNA TV TAPINGS- Three NXT stars were present at the TNA Impact television tapings last night in Tampa, Florida as the working collaboration between the two promotion continues. Riley Osborne of Chase U, Wolfgang of Gallus, and Dante Chan all wrestled during the first set of tapings. TNA will continue its second night of television tapings tonight from the same location. Matt Cardona and Matt and Jeff Hardy are all scheduled to appear tonight during the tapings from the Florida State Fairgrounds. TNA's Joe Hendry will be wrestling on NXT next week on night two of The Great American Bash. LATEST BETTING ODDS FOR SUMMERSLAM 2024- It's SummerSlam day and WWE is back with another stadium show, this time in Cleveland, Ohio. We are presenting the odds of tonight's card and they're accurate as of press time. Please remember that these odds will likely change so be careful when betting with real hard-earned money. Bloodline Rules is not affecting the outcome of the favorite in this match as Cody Rhodes is the overwhelming favorite to retain the WWE title with 1/33 odds while self-proclaimed Tribal Chief Solo Sikoa is 10/1 for the shock win. The World Heavyweight title is on the line with Damian Priest defending against Gunther. Gunther is the favorite to be crowned new champ with 4/11 odds while Priest is 2/1 to retain. A new Intercontinental champion is expected according to the odds of this match as Bron Breakker is the overwhelming favorite to beat Sami Zayn and take his gold. Breakker is 1/20 in his odds while Zayn is 8/1. Things are going to get spicy and rough as Liv Morgan defends the WWE Women's World tit le against Rhea Ripley. What role will Dom Mysterio play in this match? Morgan is 1/8 clear favorite to keep the belt while Ripley is 9/2. Bayley is the underdog in her title defense against Nia Jax, with the champion's odds at 6/4 while Jax looks to capture the WWE Women's title with 1/2 odds. Is LA Knight finally getting his first title? According to bookmakers, YEAH! Knight is 1/6 favorite to beat Logan Paul and take his United States title. Paul is 3/1 in his odds. Drew McIntyre will take on CM Punk with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee. McIntyre is 1/2 favorite to defeat Punk in his first singles match on WWE TV in over 10 years, with Punk's odds set at 6/4. COLLISION TO START EARLY TODAY- Collision today will be airing three hour earlier than usual to avoid direct competition from the SummerSlam premium live event. The show was taped on Thursday and will start at 5PM ET on TNT. Scheduled for today's show are Darby Allin, Mark Briscoe, and FTR vs The Beast Mortos and Undisputed Kingdom in an eight-man tag team match, Lee Moriarty vs Claudio Castagnoli vs Tomohori Ishii in a three-way match, Kyle Fletcher vs Brian Cage, Mistico and Hologram vs Premier Athletes, and Thunder Rosa vs Taya Valkyrie. Plus, AEW Women's champion Toni Storm will be in action with Mariah May joining on commentary duties. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

In his latest edition of the Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer wrote that the altercation happened during the 250th episode of Dynamite just over two weeks ago when Baker passed some comments about MJF which Atout overheard. Atout told MJF about it and then he confronted Baker about her comments. The incident took place after the one-hour match between MJF and Will Ospreay and Baker and Atout also had an altercation in the same day. Meltzer adds that following an investigation, all parties were talked to the following week on Dynamite and Baker was handed her suspension. It's unclear how long her suspension is or when it's up, but Baker will be taking on Mercedes Mone at All In later this month. Baker has just returned to the company following several months out due to an injury. MERCEDES MONE ANNOUNCES DIVORCE AFTER EIGHT-YEAR MARRIAGE- After news leaked that she had filed for divorce from her husband Sarath Ton, TBS champion Mercedes Mone addressed the situation in a three-minute video posted on her YouTube channel. Mone said she wanted to do this pilot because she was signing the divorce papers tomorrow and she was excited, happy, and ready to be free. "I¡¯m ready to be free of not being afraid," Mone said. Mone, who married WWE costume designer Sarath Ton eight years ago, told her agent Keven Undergaro that the two separated at the end of December 2020 and he moved out of the house a month later. She explained that she wanted to keep it private for several reasons and didn't want the outside world to judge her when there was a lot going on her life at the time. "I was shooting The Mandalorian plus trying everything in my power to be the main event of WrestleMania, so of course I didn¡¯t want this stuff to get out," she said. Despite no longer married, Mone said she still has a great relationship with Ton and credited him for changing and saving her life. "But I¡¯m excited to be free and to say that I¡¯m finally getting a divorce," she continued. Mone admitted that she didn't tell anyone in WWE about her separation when she was working there because she had no clue how Vince McMahon would react. "I was in a storyline with Bianca, Carmella, and Carmella¡¯s sommelier, and Vince was so obsessed with me and the sommelier, and I¡¯m like, ¡®Oh my God, he wanted us to be together,¡¯ and all this stuff. So me and Sarath decided we were going to keep this a secret." Sarath still works as a costume designer for WWE. You can see the video at . JR DISCUSSES MCMAHON/KHAN MEETING- On the latest episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross said he believes Shane McMahon would add a lot to the AEW product if he were to come in as an on-screen talent. Ross, who admitted that he's a fan of McMahon, discussed the photo and meeting between Shane and Tony Khan and said that his name identity and ability to do physical things within reason would contribute to AEW television. JR said that if Khan the entrepreneur thought Shane could help in some way and if Shane wanted a good pay day and have some fun, AEW is the place to go. "The wrestling business is in Shane's blood," Ross continued. "Where else does he go if he wants to stay in that vocation? Where else does he go?" Ross added that he has no inside information on Shane's future with AEW and said he has no "outstanding hope" but he's the guy and could be a great new addition at some point. "And if so, between both their creative abilities, it would be entertaining," Ross concluded. DYNAMITE RATING- Dynamite this week drew 609,000 viewers, the second least-watched broadcast of 2024 and the second least-watched for a Wednesday show ever. That is down 159,000 viewers from the previous week largely thanks to the Olympics as head-to-head competition. The show had a 0.18 rating in 18-49, down 0.08 from the previous show and was #8 on the top 50 cable chart for the night. (Ratings credit: Wrestlenomics) DIY MAKE SURPRISE APPEARANCE AT INDIE EVENT- Fans who attended last night's Absolute Intense Wrestling indie show at Temple Live in Cleveland got an unexpected surprise in the form of WWE Tag Team champions DIY. The show streamed live on Triller TV and Gargano and Ciampa brought their WWE gold with them. The two cut a promo in the middle of the ring, putting over independent wrestling and AIW. Gargano, who is from the area, wrestled for AIW in the past so this was not just a random appearance at a random independent show. DIY are not part of the SummerSlam card but will be wrestling The Bloodline tonight with the WWE Tag Team titles on the line on Friday Night Smackdown. MATT AND JEFF HARDY MEET WWE OFFICIALS IN CLEVELAND- Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting in an exclusive story that Matt and Jeff Hardy met WWE officials this morning in Cleveland, Ohio. Both of them were in town for the WrestleCon even which is being held in the area coinciding with SummerSlam and are expected to be part of the TNA Impact television tapings at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida this weekend. Matt and Jeff Hardy are still considered free agents despite regularly appearing on TNA television. Johnson adds that the two brothers filmed some stuff for WWE Digital as well. Matt left WWE in March 2020 when his contract expired while Jeff was released from his contract in December 2021 after he walked out during a tag team match at a non-televised live event. The two departed All Elite Wrestling this year after both their contracts expired at different times. WWE ON A&E RATING- A double header of Biography: WWE Legends aired on A&E this past weekend with episodes on The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase and Paul Heyman. The Ted DiBiase episode at 8PM did 297,000 viewers, up 89,000 viewers from the prior week. The show did a 0.07 rating in 18-49, up 0.02 from the Mark Henry episode. Immediately following the conclusion of the DiBiase episode, the biography of Paul Heyman drew 262,000 viewers, down 35,000 viewers. It had a 0.05 rating in 18-49, down 0.02 from the DiBiase one. MARK HENRY'S SON JACOB SIGNS WITH WWE- Mark Henry's son Jacob has signed a developmental deal with WWE. The news was announced by Jacob himself during Remix Rumble, where he appeared along with his father. Jacob, who attends the University of Oklahoma, is only 18 years old and wrestles for the university's wrestling team. Speaking to TMZ a few days ago, the WWE Hall of Famer said that while his son might also try football, his passion is wrestling and he doesn't want to go to the Pro Bowl or win the Super Bowl, but rather main event WrestleMania. "He¡¯s gotta hand me that degree first," Mark told TMZ. "Him and my daughter both. I was like...'Y¡¯all hand me the degree, I will give you the keys to your inheritance and you can go do whatever you want to do!" SMACKDOWN PREVIEW- SummerSlam weekend kicks off tonight with Smackdown returning live from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, just 24 hours away from the biggest party of the Summer. Two title matches will take place tonight, both of which are for the tag team titles. Reigning WWE Tag Team champions Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano will be defending their gold against Jacob Futu and Tama Tonga of The Bloodline while Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn will defend the WWE Women's Tag Team titles against the team of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Plus, Cleveland's own Logan Paul will be in the house and a final face-off between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa will take place. EARLY BETTING ODDS FOR SUMMERSLAM- SummerSlam 2024 is just around the corner and today we bring you the early odds for the show. Tomorrow night we will update the odds with the latest numbers. Please remember that these odds will likely change so be careful if you are betting with real money. In the main event, Cody Rhodes is the overwhelming favorite to retain the WWE championship with his odds at 1/25 while The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa is at 15/2 in his numbers. Bookmakers think that there will be a new WWE World Heavyweight champion as Gunther is the favorite to beat Damian Priest at the show. Gunther is 1/4 favorite as of now while Priest is 5/2 to retain. The year-long feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre finally reaches its climax tomorrow and it's not good news for CM Punk as McIntyre is favorite with 7/10 odds while Punk is 1/1. Logan Paul gets to defend his United States title in his hometown of Cleveland but LA Knight is the favorite to take it away from him with odds of 1/5 for the challenger while the champ is 3/1 to retain. It looks like Sami Zayn's reign as Intercontinental champion is also coming to an end as Bron Breakker is the big favorite with 1/10 odds to win the title while Zayn is 19/4 to walk out of Cleveland still with the title. Nia Jax, the challenger for Bayley's WWE Women's title, is also the favorite heading in, with Jax having 4/7 odds and Bayley is at 5/4 to retain. Mami hopes to be on top tomorrow night but the Liv Morgan revenge tour seems like it will continue as Morgan is 3/10 favorite to retain the WWE Women's World title while the returning Ripley is 11/5 to regain the title she never lost. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

Thanks, Paul! ======================================================== //->> NEWS FROM THE WRESTLING-ONLINE NEWSWIRE Web version at TITLE VS CAREER AT ALL IN- The All In main event has even bigger stakes as Swerve Strickland vs Bryan Danielson is now a title vs career match. In an in-ring segment together on Dynamite last night, Danielson said that he will be putting his career on the line and if he doesn't beat Strickland and win the AEW World title, he would retire from in-ring competition. Danielson admitted that his contract with AEW is up today, August 1, and made a promise to his family that he would not sign a new full-time wrestling contract. The former WWE champion never won a title in AEW since his arrival in 2021. He is expected to remain with AEW moving forward in some way, shape, or form, but will not be wrestling weekly, or even monthly for that matter. Danielson is said to be hurting with injuries and is not currently cleared to compete and not expected to wrestle until his All In match in London. MERCEDES MONE ADDED TO NJPW SHOW IN WASHINGTON- Mercedes Mone will be wrestling at the NJPW Capitol Collision event on August 30. The event, set to take place from the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC, will see Mone defend her NJPW Strong Women's title against an opponent yet to be named. Mone has not wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling since May 2023 and her match against Willow Nightingale where she broke her foot. She won the NJPW Strong Women's title from Stephanie Vaquer at the recent Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June. WBD'S EXCLUSIVE NEGOTIATING WINDOW CLOSES- Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling is reporting that the exclusive negotiating window between All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros. Discovery has ended. This means that with no media rights deal signed so far, AEW can enter into negotiations with other television networks. WBD likely has a price match clause in their current deal where if any other network bids on AEW programming, they have the right to match it. There are rumors that Tony Khan is meeting WBD President David Zaslav this weekend in Paris, France, to continue negotiations. Khan has stressed multiple times that he would like to stay with WBD moving forward and publicly said that the two parties had great conversations over the new deal, with Khan remaining bullish on getting a much larger deal for his company. SHANE MCMAHON ISSUES STATEMENT ON TONY KHAN MEETING- Following the reveal of a meeting with AEW President Tony Khan, Shane McMahon issued a statement to Busted Open which WWE Hall of Fame Bully Ray read on air. The meeting reportedly took place earlier this week and a "spontaneous" photo of the two in a boardroom was deliberately leaked to the press to generate talk. "Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting," McMahon said. "We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family." McMahon also said that he congratulated Khan on the five-year anniversary of AEW and is looking forward to see how he evolves the business moving forward. According to people close to the situation, McMahon and Khan also discussed potential collaborations together in the future. McMahon had expressed desire to eventually show up on AEW television now that he has no association at all with WWE. SURVIVOR SERIES 2024 GOES TO VANCOUVER- WWE and Destination Vancouver announced that Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 will be taking place from Vancouver, Canada, on November 30, 2024 during Thanksgiving weekend. WINGSTOP TO BE PRESENTING SPONSOR OF SUMMERSLAM- Wingstop, an American chain of restaurants that primarily sells buffalo wings, has signed on as the presenting partner for this weekend's SummerSlam. As part of their sponsorship, the Wingstop logo will be placed on the mat in two corners, the first time that such thing has happened. The Prime logo will remain in the middle of the ring on the mat. In addition, Wingstop will also be the presenting sponsor of tomorrow's SummerSlam Kickoff event. As part of the deal, WWE Women's champion Bayley and Drew McIntyre will appear at a Wingstop location in Berea, Ohio, between Noon and 2PM ET tomorrow. The WWE association with Wingstop will continue throughout the summer via an ad campaign featuring Braun Strowman and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio who will be part of a video which will air on WWE TV during the Summer. Apart from Wingstop and Prime, WWE has also secured sponsorship from C4, Manscaped, Wheatley, Mike¡¯s Hard Lemonade, Riot Games, and Verizon Straight Talk for the event, which is now at 60% more in sponsorship revenue compared to last year's show according to the Associated Press. NXT RATING- NXT felt the wrath of changing channels and Olympics with the show drawing its second lowest number ever, with just 468,000 viewers tuning in for night one of The Great American Bash. That is down 165,000 viewers from the prior week. In 1849, the show had a 0.15 rating, down 0.04 from the previous week and the second lowest of 2024. (Ratings credit: Wrestlenomics) JOE HENDRY TRAINING FULL TIME AT WWE PC- TNA star Joe Hendry revealed in an interview with Matt Camp that he is training full time at the WWE Performance Center, being the first non-WWE contracted star to be able to do so. Hendry credited TNA for making it happen, saying his situation is unprecedented as a TNA talent appearing on WWE television, working independent dates, training full time at the PC, and doing his own appearances and signings. "It¡¯s never been done before in the business. So, thank you to TNA and WWE for figuring it out," the Scottish star said. Hendry added that he wants to get better and better and the only way to do that is prepare, prepare, and prepare and train with the best. He thanked Shawn Michaels, who he said is offering unbelievable mentorship, for giving him the huge opportunity. "Shawn said 'Hey this door is open. If you want to train at the Performance Center, we¡¯re going to open that door.' I was like, 'Let¡¯s do it,'" Hendry said. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |

"I went to my doctor¡¯s appointment today at Rush. The next steps are blood work and a possible 24 hour urine test," she said on X. She is expected to be out for up to nine months. A month after surgery, Flair said that she was already ahead of schedule in her recovery as she was working hard with her rehab in a bid to return sooner than expected. "We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that¡¯s going to make the f*cking difference between WINNING and LOSING between LIVING and DYING," she wrote on Instagram along with a video of her doing drills. "I¡¯ll tell you this in any fight it is the guy who is willing to die who is going to win that inch. Ventura replied to WWE's post showing the video from Raw saying, "Yes, it's true. The Body is back home. Thank you @TripleH and the whole @WWE family." He then wrote, "@CMPunk looks like hell froze over... again!" Ventura also posted a photo shaking hands with CM Punk, writing that he came back for moments like these. A few months ago, Ventura said that he has started dialogue again with WWE and he had a contract offer in hand, presumably a Legends deal. He admitted that this was only happening because of the change of direction in the company and the removal of Vince McMahon from his position. You can see the video at . THREE-HOUR PRE-SHOW FOR SUMMERSLAM- SummerSlam is going to be a long, long night for those working it and those watching on television as WWE announced that the pre-show this Saturday will run for a whopping three hours. A start time of 4PM ET is being advertised for the Countdown to SummerSlam, which will air on WWE's social media properties, Peacock, and WWE Network for free. It will be followed by the premium live event at 7PM ET. The longer pre-show might have something to do with AEW's Collision which was moved to 5PM ET to avoid going head-to-head with SummerSlam. Now, Collision will have the Countdown show head-to-head, with WWE's broadcast having a one-hour head start. Meanwhile, The Miz was selected as the host of this year's show since it will be taking place from his hometown of Cleveland. Level Up features talent from the WWE Performance Center which are not quite ready for NXT but are given the chance to work in front of an audience and eventually on TV when it airs on Peacock. All NXT Level Up shows are taped before NXT goes on the air on USA Network and then they are uploaded every Friday night for viewing on Peacock and WWE Network. Some NXT talent have already appeared for Reality of Wrestling TV but this is a wider agreement that will enable those WWE PC trainees to wrestle in front of a crowd, no matter how small it is. JOHN CENA ON SEASON PREMIERE OF THE SIMPSONS- During a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening and showrunner Matt Selman announced that 16-time world champion John Cena will be in the premiere episode of The Simpsons' 36th season. Currently set to premiere on Sunday, September 8, the first is titled Bart's Birthday and will also have appearances by Tom Hanks, Danny DeVito, and Conan O'Brien. MVP MAKES SURPRISE APPEARANCE AT BLOODSPORT XI- MVP made a surprise appearance at Bloodsport XI last night and confronted Josh Barnett following his match against Bad Dude Tito. MVP mentioned that he has a contract coming up and he's not re-signing and recently achieved a black belt in jiu-jitsu and wants to do a few things before retiring, issuing a challenge to Barnett in the process. Barnett accepted the challenge and invited MVP to come anytime, either alone, or with his friends. MVP's time in WWE is coming up in a matter of weeks and it will end his latest stint with the company after four years. MVP was last seen on WWE television accompanying Omos in April on Smackdown on the eve of WrestleMania. You can see his Bloodsport appearance at . FOUR WWE STARS WRESTLE AT BLOODSPORT XI- Four WWE stars - Shayna Baszler, Charlie Dempsey, and Brutus and Julius Creed of The Creed Brothers - all participated in Josh Barnett's Bloodsport XI event held yesterday in Brooklyn, New York. The Creed Brothers made their Bloodsport debut last night and it was a good night for the two. Julius wrestled Matt Makowski and came out victorious in the match via a TKO. His brother Brutus wrestled "Filthy" Tom Lawlor later in the card and also had the same result of his brother, defeating Lawlor via TKO. NXT star Charlie Dempsey, the son of William Regal, participated in his second Bloodsport event, wrestling Royce Isaacs. Unfortunately for Dempsey, last night was not his night and Isaacs won via submission. And former NXT Women's champion Shayna Baszler headlined this card in a match against Miyu Yamashita. This was also Baszler's second time in Bloodsport after making her debut for the promotion during WrestleMania weekend in April. Baszler defeated her opponent via TKO. The former champion will be also wrestling on the show, teaming up with Sareee to take on Kizuna Tanaka and Victoria Yuzuki. SAMMY GUEVARA RETURNS...ON ROH!- Sammy Guevera made his return last night during the Ring of Honor television tapings, his first appearance since February. Guevara was not injured but was suspended by AEW after his match against Jeff Hardy where he continued with the match despite Hardy being knocked out. While the referee and the ringside physician didn't get any flack for not stopping the match as per protocol, Guevara got the full brunt of the consequences when he hit his finishing move after Hardy got knocked out when Guevara hit a shooting star press and landed on his face with his knee. It's believed that the suspension lasted around two months but there was nothing creatively for him when his suspension was up. ANNA JAY HEADING TO JAPAN- Anna Jay will be participating in the upcoming Stardom 5Star Grand Prix, a 28-women round-robin tournament starting in two weeks. The tournament kicks off on August 10 and will end on August 31. The 28 women are split in four blocks of seven, with Jay listed in the Blue Stars A Block. Her involvement means that she will be off AEW television for the rest of the month as she moves to Japan. TONY KHAN DISCUSSES POSSIBILITY OF REBRANDING ROH UNDER AEW UMBRELLA- At the post-Death Before Dishonor press conference, AEW President Tony Khan toyed with the idea of renaming Ring of Honor to AEW: ROH, in a bid to make the brand more attractive for television. Currently, Ring of Honor has no TV outlet and streams exclusively on the ROH HonorClub service which is $9.99 a month. "I recognize that AEW is at the very top of pro wrestling. The ROH brand could frankly benefit from even more association," Khan told the wrestling press in Arlington. He said that that renaming ROH wouldn't be "sacrilegious" so to speak and it will only help to grow the brand if he were to license it to AEW. "I don't think that's a crazy thing or sacrilegious or bad. I think it would be good for everybody. People would see more of the connectivity that exists between promotions and what we're going for," Khan explained. Tony Khan owns Ring of Honor personally and it's not a subsidiary of AEW, which is a separate company. Khan is still hoping that ROH finds a home with Warne r Bros. Discovery and ongoing negotiations also potentially include the library and weekly ROH TV. "Would Ring of Honor frankly have a lot more value as AEW: Ring of Honor? Yeah, probably," Khan said. "I think I've come to that realization as far as the presentation. That might mean a more cohesive absorption of the promotion into the fabric of what we're already doing, but not in a way that would affect things." MXM COLLECTION MAKE ROH DEBUT- Mason Madden and Mansoor, the duo formerly known as Maximum Male Models in WWE, made their Ring of Honor debut last night at the Death Before Dishonor show. Now wrestling under the name of MXM Collection, the two defeated Angelico and Serpentico in the opening match of the Zero Hour show. Both were released from WWE in September of last year and continued on with their model gimmicks on the independent scene. A vignette hyping up their arrival aired on ROH TV earlier this month. Since being let go from WWE, both have made the best out of the worst situation and believed in their gimmick which would ultimately land them an AEW/ROH deal. The two also appeared for Soft Ground Wrestling in Uganda, helping the wrestling-mad group raise money for their promotion. You can see their arrival at . DARBY ALLIN WINS ROYAL RAMPAGE, GETS TITLE SHOT AT GRAND SLAM- Darby Allin is on a roll and has secured two different title matches in the same week. After getting a TNT title shot at Jack Perry at All In, Allin yesterday won the Royal Rampage and will get an AEW World title shot against whoever the champion will be at Dynamite: Grand Slam on September 25. The match also featured Brandon Cutler, Brian Cage, Brody King, Claudio Castagnoli, Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Kip Sabian, Komander, Kyle O'Reilly, Lio Rush, Matt Menard, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, The Butcher, and Tomohiro Ishii. Allin was in the final four with Brian Cage, Jeff Jarrett, and Claudio Castagnoli and eliminated the BCC member to win the match. This is the second back-to-back Royal Rampage win for Allin. JOE HENDRY MAKES SURPRISE APPEARANCE AT NXT SHOW- The people of Davenport, Florida said his name...and he appeared! Fans attending the NXT live event at the Tom Fellows Community Center were treated to a nice surprise last night when TNA star Joe Hendry showed up at the event and even wrestled. Hendry, who is currently on a roll appearing weekly on NXT despite being a TNA-contracted star, teamed up with Je'Von Evans and Shiloh Hill to take on Gallus in a six-man tag team match. Unfortunately, for him, Gallus walked out with the victory. Earlier in the day on X, Hendry teased his appearance by writing, "Looking for something to do. Anything fun going on in Davenport, Florida tonight? Say his name..." MEIKO SATOMURA ANNOUNCES APRIL 2025 RETIREMENT- A press conference was held in Tokyo by Meiko Satomura where she announced that she will be retiring in the beginning of next year and will have her final match in April. Her retirement announcement came after Tokyo Sports reported it on Friday and the date will coincide with her 30th anniversary in the business. The Japanese legend also said that she will be wrestling select matches in her own Sendai Girls promotions in September and was also open to wrestle in other promotions. Emi Sakura, who wrestles for AEW, appeared at the same press conference to say that she wants to wrestle Satomura before she hangs up her boots. Satomura has been under a WWE contract since 2020 where she was part of NXT UK. Her final televised appearance for the company was at the Roadblock 2023 event where she took on Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's title. It's unclear if WWE will play a part in her farewell tour although her final match will take place in Japan. Satomura wrestled Bayley for the WWE Wo men's title during today's final show in Tokyo. ======================================================== ADVERTISING: (C) Copyright 1996-2024 Wrestling-Online.com ======================================================== |
