Jupiter and flrig #flrig

I cannot find any recent information on this and I am stumped. I have a Ten Tec Jupiter (TT-538) and am running fldigi 4.1.14 and flrig 1.3.51 on Windows 10.

I have been running fldigi with no problem for 4 years, but I have never gotten flrig to work. Cat control works with other programs. The current problem I have is that flrig tells me: "Transceiver not responding" and to reset the com port. The com port is correct and available.? There aren't many other options. It's a Prolific USB-Serial cable, not FTDI.?

Any ideas?

Are you using an old driver for the Prolific?? Windows updates to newer drivers which do not work with older Prolific cables that are probably clones. If that's the case, reinstall the older drivers. That's what I do.

Lem,

I have a Ten-Tec Pegasus, which is essentially a Jupiter without knobs, buttons, and display. In other words, computer control only. No problem with FLrig. Are you running the Jupiter in "Pegasus emulation mode"??

Don, I have and FTDI cable coming tomorrow. Hopefully, that's it.

Chuck, I can't find a setting for Pegasus mode, so I doubt it.

As I said, I never thought about Pegasus mode, but since the new FTDI cable didn't solve the problem I changed the flrig transceiver setting to tt-550, and my Jupiter went into Pegasus mode.? So, in some cases it is able to communicate with the rig.? I was not able to do anything else--I was able to change frequencies briefly after going back to Jupiter mode (don't ask me how I got there).? But now I'm back to not communicating and at times COM ports disappear from the transceiver setup screen in fldigi (I now have COM1, 4, and 5--often only COM1 and one of the other 2--the one I used last--disappear).
d
There must be some configuration I'm missing.? In fldigi, what settings shouId have for flrig? See attached...

Lem,

Your screen shot is of a fldigi window setup for when you have flrig running, nothing here will affect how flrig itself runs, only how it communicates with fldidi. What you have is fine assuming flrig is not being used by another program along with fldigi at the same time.

The com port will not likely stay set if flrig does not initialize completely. Some setting is not correct either in flrig or in the radio, of course assuming no other program is running that might use the com port.

Sorry, I don’t know anything about using the Jupiter rig so other than the basics someone else is going to have to help you with this.

COM port issues can occur via updates, or if you plug into a differentUSB port when using an adapter. Windows for some reason installs the same driver for all different ports, and everything gets a different COM port number.

If the software isn’t seeing what you think it should be seeing, Go into the device manager and look at what COM ports it is showing.

Some setting is not correct either in flrig or in the radio
I agree. That was the original question--what might the incorrect thing be?

flrig supports the Jupiter, TT-538, in native mode.? See attached for the C++ support code.

flrig also supports the Pegasus, TT550, which the Jupiter can be set up to emulate.? see the attached support code for the Pegasus.

In the Pegasus emulation more there are more controls available (due to the TenTec transceiver firmware).

It's been 16 years since I owned a Jupiter and about 14 since owning a Pegasus.? I can assure you that flrig supports both rigs correctly.
