Dear radio amateurs,
I have a new laptop the Dell 16 5645 with Windows 11 pro.My old laptop is Dell e5470 with Windows 10 pro. I used Fldigi version 2024 and it worked very well on my Windows 10pro with my FRG 7 receiver and the sound card in the laptop. Now with the new laptop (Windows 11) what I installed, the old and newest version of Fldigi it does not work any longer. I tried it many times on more days. I do not know what the problem is, and maybe someone of you can help me to solve that problem. I will thank you very much if you can help me with the problem.

Hello Geo,
Sometimes it's a matter of the config files which may over time start making issues, when updating or moving installations around.
I suggest as a last resort to make an entirely fresh special install of the latest stable ver4.2.06 as follows:
On your hard disk, create a folder with write privileges (NOT in Windows governed folders like 'C:\Programs' etc.!!!) and call it exactly this (it may reside in a suitable sub-directory of your choice, though):
FL_APPS
Use underscore, not Space in the folder name!
Install FLdigi therein and follow the instructions given by the installer.
Then run FLdigi from this FL_APPS folder and set your devices and preferences as necessary for trying it out. Note that this will/should be independent from any other FLdigi installation onthis PC, not taking into account your previous user settings. If this works, you may adapt the necessary features further to fit your needs. Note that all personal settings are now stored in an fldigi.files sub-folder within the installation folder you have created above.
Maybe this provides a way to get going again. Needless to say that you must suitably set or reply to Windows access restrictions in the process, in order to not be blocked from doing what you intend to do.
Good Luck!

I have installed in the FL_APPS folder, and it works except if you are using FlDigi with Slicemaster ( I found a work around)? I also had flrig installed in there.
how are you keying the rig?? are you using flrig, hamlib, catlib???

Hi George,
Good news, thanks for sharing it.
Now I'll leave you with your knowlegable ham colleagues for this remaining topic, since I'm not at all familiar with rigs and their control, being an SWL...
Good luck, I hope you'll find the right way to get it to work before long!

Hello Geo,
Sometimes it's a matter of
the config files which may over time start making issues, when updating
or moving installations around.
I suggest as a last resort to
make an entirely fresh special install of the latest stable ver4.2.06 as
follows:
On your hard disk, create a folder with write
privileges (NOT in Windows governed folders like 'C:\Programs' etc.!!!)
and call it exactly this (it may reside in a suitable sub-directory of
your choice, though):
FL_APPS
Use underscore, not Space in
the folder name!
Install FLdigi therein and follow the
instructions given by the installer.
Then run FLdigi from this
FL_APPS folder and set your devices and preferences as necessary for
trying it out. Note that this will/should be independent from any other
FLdigi installation onthis PC, not taking into account your previous
user settings. If this works, you may adapt the necessary features
further to fit your needs. Note that all personal settings are now
stored in an fldigi.files sub-folder within the installation folder you
have created above.
Maybe this provides a way to get going again.
Needless to say that you must suitably set or reply to Windows access
restrictions in the process, in order to not be blocked from doing what
you intend to do.

Well raise my rent! I had never heard of this, but tried it today &
it worked for my problem. Since the last two versions of FLDIGI, I had
not been able to decode any THOR transmission. Other modes, like Olivia
& MT63 worked just fine, but not THOR. After following your
directions THOR now works perfectly.
Thanks, Tobias.?
