Re: Incrementing Serial Number
Last time I did a RTTY contest like this I had nothing but problems with the serial numbers. I have avoided contests like this ever since. I would think a CONFIG feature could make this easier by advancing the serial number when a QSO is logged instead of having to make it a macro item, since so many appear to have problems. As an example, the N3FJP Nov SS contest log. The serial number starts at 001 and advances automatically after each QSO is entered (logged). The OP doesn't have to do anything but concentrate on the contest. The last time I did the WPX RTTY test I had to watch and correct the serial number being sent and set up two additional macros to do it.

Does your macro look like ...<RX><INCR><LOG> or ...<RX><LOG><INCR> That is, do you log before you increment the number, or after?? Even better, you can use the <XBEG> and <XEND> to actually save/log what you sent.? (see ) |
Re: Incrementing Serial Number
When I send a report, the serial No, that is in the? "S #" box? which is right under the Call sign,?
that number prints on the screen to the other operator. But the number that shows up in the log "Ser In" box is one number higher than what was sent. Then I have to go to the log and manually change the number to which was actually sent. |
Re: Incrementing Serial Number
Well the WPX contest isn't going well.? No one would reply to me, but I can reply to them and send report and get report.
But the serial number I send is one number lower that shows up in the log. I tried to straighten it out.? And when I had to resend again to the same operator, the serial no. increased again. I was getting screwed up and gave up.? More work to do. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDave,Please follow this carefully and see if your setup matches. If it does it will transmit fine assuming that you have audio settings in fldigi set correctly. (don't bother about the audio device enable box) Set Windows mixer volume for the USB Audio to 100% then verify that the Tx Attenuator some reasonable number. You can set it to zero for testing, but that likely will be way too high. 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

I'm going to try RTTY with my FT-920 using FLDigi. When doing so, what do I set the drop down menu as? PKTUSB or USB? Or, does it really matter? |
Re: FT-920, FLDigi and RTTY
I use a Signalink for audio, connected via an audio cable in the back of the rig. I'll try PKTUSB and see what happens. Thank you. On Feb 10, 2023 7:45 AM, Cliff <ae5zaham@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe difference will be where the rig is getting the audio. USB on your rig probably expects to get the audio via the Mic jack and PKTUSB from a rear connector. I'm only guessing from experience since I don't have your rig. Only one will normally work, but which ever does use it.73, Cliff, AE5ZA

Re: Windows7 possible issues
Cliff
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLew,I don't believe there is any issue with Window 7. I don't run Windows myself, but know of those that do. Regarding RxID - Is it setup the same on both computers? There's nothing that should be dependent on the OS version that I can think of. Compare the fldigi config/IDs/RsID pages. There's also the setup in the fldigi Config/Notification menu that can affect things. The screen shots below are my setup. 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

Windows7 possible issues
Will the latest FLDIGI? version run on an old Win7 PC?
I think we have ver 4.1.9 running now.? It seems to have a problem responding to the RSID.? One of our club members questioned updating to the newest version will run on our old PC. Running the latest version on my Win10 PC the RSid works okay. I am trying to get our school club ready for next week's School Club Roundup. The kids are very sharp, but most of them have nearly zero radio experience. We plan to run digital modes because phone would interfere with classes in the same room. As long as you received it, a 'QSL' will suffice. If not, ask to repeat it.

#macros Command for Other Person's Serial Number

Is there a macro command to send the other person's serial number back?? I would like to use it to acknowledge I received it during a contest.? I want to send it along with the other person's RST, but I found the command for that.
