[WT] pitman arm installation question...

In.

Does the pitman arm ball face in or out?

Thanks Dave- I was hoping you were trolling tonight! PS- I filled the
steering gear with 600wt gear oil (for a Model "A")I think this was
from your bag of tricks...
Thanks,
matt

That wasn't where I used the 600wt oil - I used it in the knuckles on
the axle. For the steering gear I went with the straight 140wt oil
specified in the service manual I have. That was a 1950ish service
manual - might have been a change in specifications by 1962 though.

David,
I've found three different recommendations from three different
sources: "heavy gear oil" "90wt," and "140wt."

I didn't want to run the risk of seepage even thought the unit is now
sealed properly. I considered the semi-fluid synthetic grease route
but, after I re-read some old postings I thought your idea of the
600wt was a good solution...even if it was intended for knuckles!

The unit has a light coating of gear lube at friction point
too...I'll let you if I exspirience any ill-effects from the 600.
Thanks,
Matt
