[WT] 43 CJ or MB

Both Ford and Willys were contracted to make military Jeeps. The Ford is known as a GPW - G= General purpose, P=80 inch wheelbase, W= Willys design.
Ford identified their product by placing their logo on all the parts, and I do mean ALL. Bolts, heads, seats, etc. So, yes, Willys and Ford made the same product at the same time. DJ FL |
The 43 Ford I had had the word FORD stamped into the rear, left of the tail gate above the tail light. Was this Jeep also known as a script Jeep?

If it was 'Script' it was produced in '42, unless an older tub was unearthed in a warehouse.Willys used their block stencil type lettering in the same location on their tubs. The War Department told them to knock it off, too.

Yep, that's a Ford script jeep. Willys did the same thing on the back of their jeep until the govt told them it was a war, and they shouldn't be advertising their product in such a manner.

The script jeeps are more rare now, so if you know where it is, I suggest you buy it back. And then sell it to me of course. :) HA! Chris Cortland, NY ----- Original Message -----
