I finally got the steering gear, rebuilt by Red Head Steering Gears last fall, reinstalled.

So, what is this expertly made piece of autonomy correct wood for?? To get the steering column past the bearing at the top of the housing.??

I had challenges getting the steering gear to work properly; it would bind up when turning left, and not come back to center without pulling it back.? The resolution was to rotate the Pitman arm maybe 10 degrees, so the "bind" was in the center, though it isn't noticeable when driving.
